Before we get 20ft of snow, I would like to get my dishes setup for the winter in their perminant position for the season.

Right now I have a 18" dish on 61.5 with an old Bell box for the slate channel music, as well I have a 31" dish on 85º but since the recent changes with the satellite I am looking for a new one.

I only have Circular / Linear Ku dishes and a analog General Instruments 2410R receiver and a Twinhan digital satellite card. Because of my house location and neighbours tree location I only have access to satellites between 61.5º and 110º.

I would like to know what satellites are in this area that are known to have analog-ku / digital-ku feeds.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I don't have a analog receiver so I can't give any advice on that, but for digital I would have to say in your range the best satellites are: 72, 74, 79, 91, 93, 103 (weird skew), 105.

SBS6 but you need a blind scan box for the digital feeds :)

I have MyTheatre, it has a scan feature where it scans all freqs. and TP's of a satellite, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that thats blind scan?

Also, which of the birds (72, 74, 79, 91, 93) would have more news feeds, or is it hit and miss?

Thanks!

Currently there is only one DVB card that has blind search, a Skystar 2.3 or 2.6, I can't remember which one, the scan in MyTheater is not a blind search. A blind search receiver finds all active transponders at a given time. You would need that one DVB card or a STB (Pansat, Traxis, Coolsat ...........),
For news I would think that 72, (more on these two (79,93)) are the best, but it depends on the time of day too.

It's a the 2.3 version.
BTW - there is software that will do a brute-force scan with a normal dvb card, but it can take all day to do. While isn't very helpful in catching periodic broadcasts.

highly unlikely. And there are way too many symbol rates to enter manually :)

79,93,103

blind scanners

You just missed a helluva deal from SatAV the other day on a Fortec 5400 with blind scan.
Ya snooze, ya lose.

Next cheapest box I know of is a Traxis 3500.
You can search for user's comments on it here on the forum.
Mostly, people like it and it scans pretty fast.
