Installation Question

I'm planning on upgrading my single LNB (one orbital location, 1 output) on my RV to a dual LNB (1 orbital location, 2 outputs). Question is, can I connect the 2 outputs from the LNB to 1 RG6 cable (this goes through the roof of the RV) and then split the single cable at the other end back into 2 outputs in order to connect to a 2 tuner VIP 222? What equipment would I need to do this?

just get DP single LNB and get DP splitter it looks like legacy 21 switch put it behind 222 it should work

I looked into that configuration and thought it would not work. Reason is, I thought I needed DPP single LNB to make it work. From what I can tell DPP you nedd DPP to combine 2 outputs into 1. DPP starts with Twin LNB, not single. Or do I have my facts wrong?

You are correct, There is no such thing as a DPP Single or Dual lnb. He would have to use a DPP Twin (Dish Pro Plus) then use a seperator at the 222 to seperate the signal to 2 sat inputs. (Not a splitter).

What type of dish do you have now?, Do you have a dish 500 or a dish 300? If you do not have the Dish 500 then I don't think you have the correct "Yoke" Y-Bracket to support a different LNB. You would need a DPP Twin LNB to do what you are wanting to do. You want to seperat the cable, Then you need a DP seperator, Just a splitter will NOT work. Do not waste your time with splitters. As for the dual lnb, This will not work with the seperator either, You will need DPP Twin lnb. (Dish Pro Plus) Your dual and single LNB is not Dish Pro technology and will not work together.

The other thing is if you do get a Dish Pro Plus equipment, That RG59 cable will not last long. The Pro Plus receiver sends a lot of current to the lnb to power up the internal switch.

My advice, Get yourself a Dish 500 with a DPP Twin lnb and a Tripod with RG6 cable. Then at the receiver, Use a DP Seperator.

Or do what everyone else does, Call dish and set up a Trouble Call

You would need a "YOKE" Y-Bracket for the DPP Twin lnb. And your 18" is a little small for the 2 satellites, If you just want 1 satellite I have seen it work but to get 2 satellites the twin lnb was designed for you will need a Dish 500

The dish on the roof is a Winegard. I'm almost sure it is similar to Dish 300. It measures 20.9" X 19.2". The existing cable from the roof into the RV is RG6.

Oh, Yea then a DPP twin will not work at all. It won't fit on that wineguard dish. Your gonna have to get a tripod with a dish 500 and a DPP twin if you want to use that 222 receiver you have. It is a dual tuner HD receiver that requires 2 inputs. But if you have a HDTV in your rv then if you want HD you are gonna need a 3 lnb dish like the Dish 1000 or dish 1000.2

It's a valid configuration. Both polarities will be present and there won't be any diseqc conflicts since there's no switches in the system.

What is a DP Approved splitter? Do you have any links to see it?. This is something I havn't heard of yet?

This basically turns a DP SINGLE into a DP DUAL. No switching and voltage is constant on DP.

So you are saying if I don't have a quad LNB then I can take 2 duals and 2 DP Splitters and run them to say....4 311's? and they will all work fine and pass DNS QA's?......... They are the same as a 21 switch?
