says on their Web Site that RFD would be available on Dec 1st. Any Idea if DTV will get the channel?

i would not think that there was much there to put in HD but maybe it is another sign that this channel like so many others is moving away from its original format.

let me plead ignorance and ask what the hey?

I don't know for sure what their ratings book looks like but I suspect this channel is fairly popular throughout rural America where satellite tv probably has it's most significant targeted audience (no cable, no locals).

RFD just added Don Imus to their morning line-up and, like him or not, he brings a pretty large fan base with him. Nobody on tv or radio has better guests than he does.

Don't know if I'd want to see his craggly face in HD though.

You've obviously never heard of Howard Stern.

Believe it or not Stern never had the largest morning drive fan base (nor did Imus). I personally never listened to Imus but i know people who do and they were probably delighted to hear he is on TV. but again i don't see anything on that channel that cries out for HD---maybe the train show. I suspect that we will see changes on this channel in the coming months.

I certainly hope RFD TV doesn't change it's format. I love the antique tractor and train programs. I'm not sure how Imus fits into a family oriented channel as it is presently. Time will tell. This channel doesn't air many commercials and seems somewhat member supported.

Yes, I've heard of him. As a matter of fact, I listened to him occasionally during the PM drive time when I worked in NYC for 5 1/2 years back in the 80s.

Stern usually has strippers, transvestities and the like on his programs.

This week, Imus has already had Thomas Friedman and John McCain (among a host of others) on his show and it's only Wednesday.

I rest my case about who has the better guests (unless your taste runs toward strippers and transvestites).

What about transvestite strippers? :D

Ummm.. believe it or not you're wrong. Stern constantly had the #1 show in nearly every market he was in. He dominated in NY while Imus had about a 1.7 share, and remember that there's a +/- give of 1 point, so it may have just been a .7. Here in CT he had nearly a 20 share.
Anyone who is a big fan of Imus probably also has fun yelling out the N-word and staring at the wall for hours on end.

Stern has had:

Shall I go on?

I love people like you who just assume stuff about Howard. Fact is that his show is better and before he came around Imus was just sitting around, spinning records, doing coke, and calling black people the N-Word. Don't talk about stuff you clearly know nothing about, because then the educated people need to come in and set the facts straight.

Imus has on the same old politicans who just go on his show because they know that Imus isn't going to ask anything important or controversial. Hell this guy advertises when his slave/wife Dierder is coming on the air. Its always the same people: McCain, Dodd, Russert, etc etc.

If you want to listen to a racist who looks like Yosemite Sam and sounds like Lurch from the Adams Family, be my guest. I, along with nearly 8 million other people, will be listening to the best Radio on Radio with Stern and Sirius Satellite Radio.

BTW, its "I've HEARD of him," not "I've hear of him"

Please pardon my poor proofreading of my earlier post. I really do know the the past tense of the word hear.

Regarding your voluminous list of guests who have appeared on Stern's show, I have two observations to make:

You have way too much time on your hands and you really need to get a life:D

My thoughts exactly!

Actually PBS has a much larger national audience---which is what I said. There is a difference between being high in the markets you are in and having more total listeners nationally.

i am not against Stern---I never cared for him but others can listen to him but I am saying that there is a lot out there Imus, Stern, O&A, PBS and people should have choices. Why are Imus people aginst Stern and vice versa.

I'm not a huge fan or either Stern or Imus. I do happen to enjoy the guests on Imus' show, especially with the political season upcoming.

Imus said a horrible, horrible thing about the Rutger's Women's basketball team for which he apologized and was forgiven by the team. He lost his job for 8 months.

Having said all that, when you review the list of Stern's guests which you posted above, with the exception of Rudy, Martha Stewart (a convicted felon) and Robert Duval, it's pretty clear that the other members of the list didn't come to the list straight from a Mensa meeting.

That's my opinion, you're certainly entitled to yours!
