Help With " Moving"

what would happen if i moved from indianapolis to chicago? eastern time zone to central? would the time get all screwey in my EPG?

You'll have to adjust everything in your head by an hour.

Would this mean that when you have your "actual" locals in the guide via OTA antenna, that the guide will show wrong info since it thinks it is an hour later than it is?

So if you set your DVR to record something off of your OTA locals that it would record the wrong thing?

no, the time in the guide is not timezone dependent, the shows would all still be at the correct time but from your perspective they would appear to be an hour off, as would the current time. (eleven o'clock news shows in guide as starting at ten o'clock, but since the box is an hour behind it records at eleven which it thinks is ten)

So while everything would work, still it would be a PITA.

Of course you could go the extra mile, adjust all the clocks in your house and just live your life in the timezone of the place you "moved" to.

Also, would the local channel for where you "moved" to get mapped down to their "real" numbers?

No spotbeams on 129, but there are some areas of the US that can't get 129 due to the footprint.

As far as I know, if you pay for the locals, your OTA's will populate the guide if Dish has that affiliate in the EPG.

if the Miami locals are on Echo Star 7 Spotbeam 3s15, is there any way I can get them in San Antonio, TX?

Spotbeams are only received by dishes in a certain footprint which is usually a couple hundred miles in diameter. So the short answer is no you cannot receive Miami locals in San Antonio. You CAN receive Houston and probably Dallas I think.

If i live in illinois what would be a GOOD place to "MOVE" to. right now i have the 110 119 and 129 satellites if that helps. I would like to be able to get atleast the BIG 4.

Chicago HD is on 129.... not spotbeams on 129. Chicago SD of ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX are on 110 non-spotbeam transponder. Other SD locals are on 110 TP 31 spotbeam, check your signal.

If HD is different though I am really seriously thinking of "moving" a couple of miles to Los Angeles to see the superbowl in HD. I saw though that dish does not have KTLA in HD unlike D*.

No they didn't qualify people correctly. It's the "movers" fault for giving the wrong address.

I am currently in Central VA.

Equipment: VIP 211 seeing 110, 119 + hookup for 129 (Not active since I switched from HD Ultimate to HD Essentials.)

I'd say Atlanta. You'd need that 129.

Just a quick question. I live in NH and receive Burllington VT locals. If I call dish and tell them that I moved to my sisters who lives in southern NH could I receive Boston locals in Hd and WMUR out of NH in Hd ? I have a 110/119 and 65.1 satellite right now.

Does anyone know if LA's locals are on spotbeam or not (I know HD isn't, but what about SD?) Also, what other cities are like that, where the HD & SD are both ConUS?

So just to clarify...if I were to move to Denver (1 hour behind), the time in the guide would also be behind 1 hour (so the 10:00 news would be showing at 9:00 in guide) Is this right?
