Sci-Fi HD...when can we watch?

Let me get this straight.... You switched to Dish, and now, due to the lack of SciFi HD might switch back to Direct, and it won't be until February before you even have a TV capable of watching it?!?! Wouldn't it make sense to at least wait until then? Doesn't it seem sort of wasteful to keep switching back and forth? Or did I completely misread your post?
I read it as he was going to wait until Feb. to do anything.

I think we had to be a much happier people before all this technology!

Yeah, that's what my wife says, too. Before we got the 622, all we had to worry about with the 501 was when the weather caused reception problems.

Of course, we have to be patient as we wade thru the constant (and quick) evolving technology of HDTV and it's programming (and I wouldn't trade anything in the world for it), but at times it is frustrating...

First off, I'd like to say how much I love this forum. I have been reading for a while and thought I'd join in this fun discussion! It doesn't look like SciFi is going to broadcast any true HD programming until SG-A returns January 4th. Until then, it's Z list movies and marathons of programs shot in SD. So if E* turns it on today, it's stretchy bad movies and repeats until after the first of the year anyway! I for one like that E* gets the bugs worked out before we get the product. My sister has D and is always complaining that it is buggy.

Come On D***! Gimme SCIFI HD!

With the Writers Strike still going on, I would love to see some of the reruns and especially Tin Man in HD. I've been getting fixes of BSG on UNIHD but that's not enough and it just kills me to have to zoom in to fill my screen on SGA. I might even start watching Flash again if it was high def!

grumble....hope.....grumble....hope:hungry:

E gets bugs worked out before the product? When did this start happening?

No updates to report at this time.

Again Dish is losing money by having these two channels up there but not using them, so something happened. They would not have dropped revenue generating PPV service just to have the space sit there empty.

The way I see it, it's probably a small technical issues and they're working on it. If it was a major problem they would've put back their HD PPV channels by now. Like Scott said, they're losing money by not having those two HD PPV channel there.

According to the Uplink Activity Report of 12/8/2007, the two HDPPV channels moved to 129 and are still available. Since they aren't mirrored on 61.5, Dish is probably losing some revenue, but it's not a complete loss.

What is this channel 5416 that just showed up on my guide? It's labeled "MT66" Anyone have any idea? It's in red, so I can't view it.

In relation to D, I should have said. My sister said that through D they had SciFiHD "available" a good week before they could actually tune to it. Just got a black screen for a while. The way people gripe around here E* is better off waiting for the initial bugs to be dealt with.

That was a problem with your sisters set up then since the day Sci-Fi showed up as an available channel there was programming there and folks were watching it. It was reported that the channel, and a number of others, were showing up for folks that had an engineering card in their EPG but for normal customers.

I don't care what def they put that horrible show in it is unwatchable. Absolute worst acting in the history of television, and that includes SciFi's made-for-TV movies. I'd like to watch Atlantis and BSG in HD, but they couldn't pay me to watch Flash Boredom.

That's a definite possibility. She's the only one I know willing to pay D's higher price for similar programming. Eveybody else has E* or are still stuck in the cable era. My father-in-law just about killed my mother-in-law when she cancelled E* and went back to cable for it's "better deal". 90 days later they are paying $35+ for basically the same channels they got before.

People will gripe whether they wait to fix any bugs or release it buggy. In Utopia it should be done fast and without any problems. But then this isnt Utopia. :D
