TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - An academic cheating scandal could leave Florida State without as many as 25 players for its Music City Bowl game against Kentucky on New Year's Eve, coach Bobby Bowden said Tuesday. ... AP story.

Oh grow up they ALL cheat. A relative of mine was at a basketball tournament when people like Ewing were in college. He asked for Ewings' autograph and was told no. The reason? The SOB could barely spell his own name. I doubt 75% the players in College sports ever even take their own tests.

Now my Wildcats have a real shot at winning, although they were favored before any of this.

This is only going to get worse. Imagine the corruption if they institute a playoff system. They need to stop naming a national champion IMO and stop the large bowl payoffs to the participating teams. Distribute the money equally. This was supposed to be amateur athletics.

I believe the Big Ten distributes all of it's bowl money among it's members. I heard that FSU is going to suspend the offenders for the bowl game and the first 3 games of next season.

Most conferences do distribute the money from bowls among all schools. I do think the school that makes it to the bowl game gets a larger cut, but there is a distribution process by the conferences.

So a relative of yours met someone in 1983 and from that you deduce that 75% of all players don't take their own tests? Take it from someone who has played and worked in college athletics, academic fraud is taken VERY seriously.

cheating is common thruout colleges(athletes and not athletes alike), so branding these athletes "criminals" is bit far... they cheated, they will pay the price, but compared to many other athletes both college and pro, i would not call this a "criminal" act

Almost all the conferences do that. The problem is that some of the conferences (SEC) make a lot more bowl money total that other conferences, and don't want to share that money.
Why would any conference want to share money with any other conference? Conferences don't share money made from television contracts, why would they share bowl money?

Dont most conferences do this? The SEC does also that im sure of, i thought all of them did

Edit: i see this has already been asked

My best friend attended Indiana State during the mid to late 70s. He had a class with Larry Bird. He told me that the "Hick from French Lick" managed to be present on the first day and the last day of the class. He passed with flying colors. In those days Larry couldn't put five words togather to make a sentence let alone pass a class.
