New Dish Network Pricing

Well folks looks like the rumor of a Dish Price Increase is true.

Here is the new pricing which I have received from a few anonymous sources (THANK YOU!)

In addition that Rumor for a $9.99 HD package appears true. And there could also be a third HD package offered as well. To me that is VERY interesting news.

Anyways here is the new pricing for 2008, and I believe this is effective on February of 2008.

They've raised the AEP $15 the past three years.

If I didn't have the DVR's I'd drop down to the 250.

So they are dropping the price of the HD Pak $9.99 and then adding another Tier for $5.00. So for all HD it will be $15. Or am I not understanding correctly.

Also what about dvr advantage pack customers? Will they see a price increase also? I thought they were locked in for 18 months at least from price increases.

DVR Advantage pricing is locked in until Feb. 2009...then WHAM!

The HD pack that you have now will stay the same price. Thus is not included on this chart.

However I am hearing a good rumor that Dish is launching 2 more HD packages, one that is $9.99 another another one. (I don't know what the other one costs nor do I know whats included in the packges)

I am sure we will find out in the next few weeks.

This HD pricing plan is just plain stupid...get rid of the HD packs and roll the HD channels into their normal AT100, AT200 and AT250 offerings. Better yet...a la carte 'em all.

Oh just wait Direct and Cable probably will be raising their rate and Direct will have even more of a excuse to do so. Due to with the HD they added the their new sat going up. I'm on the AT200 so extra $2 is not bad but will be interesting to see what they do with the HD like Scott was talking about. But I hope since Dish as not put up and new Sats lately that next year this time we do not see a price increase... I have seen a $4-6 increase the last two years which if that was the last 4 would not be too bad but two is to often. So hopefully in 09 we will not see another one.

All TV and Phone companies raise rates every year now because the goverment lets them. Same as gas prices, electric costs, and other items, everything are on major rises because the econamy is just trying to see how bad we can go before it bursts into a recession.

You speculated in another thread that you thought that the 9.99 hd plan would have only the hd channels off of 110 sat , which means no Voom . ANythoughts if that will still be the plan? How about this third hd plan? How much will it sell for? THis sounds suspiciously like a way to add newer hd channels to it and sell it for more money . Kind of like DIRECtv 's hd extra pack for $4.99. I can see DISH doing this and jacking the prices at the same time. You want Sci-fi and Usa and FX in hd ? Guess where the third pack comes in?

I thought you said that DISH was moving away from hd packs and towards a tech fee like DIRECTV is doing?

Yeah but Sci-Fi Usa if you get the SD channels you should get the HD channel the 4.99 deal with Direct are for channels that dont have a SD channel and are not really a National Network like USA Network is. They were charging more for 3rd party HD Channels like HDNET so forth.

NO only in digital not HD. That pertains to ota stations not cable or satellite. So your ota locals will be in digital but it could still be 480i.
