It won't replace GH2 or GH3. At least not in my house. But, add the drums and mic, and the family had a blast. Guitars in medium mode is a lot less challenging then the same mode in Guitar Hero. I have to play the drums in easy mode until I get the hang of it. Singing is pretty cool because you can't just "scream" into the mic. You need to hit the words in the right pitch for maximum points. The only downside, and this is a minor one for me, is the noise of the sticks hitting the drum pads. Not an issue if you have the volume turned up. I know there's sticks available, that will quiet the noise. I'll have to talk to a couple of my drummer friends. If you plug in just the drum kit, you can play solo career on the drums. Pretty cool. And they already have a bunch of DLC available. Prices are cheaper than the GH downloads.

Being a huge fan of GH I was on the fence about RB and wanted to wait until some reviews came out. Seeing though that basically every review site has given it the equivalent of at least 9 out of 10 rating, now I'm very interested in it.

We've had a good time with it.. Being able to get 4 people on the system at one time is great fun.. I can't imagine trying 4 players on a regular TV - we play it at approx 100" on the projector and it's just right though. (I'm having a tough time with the drums.. my coordination just isn't there yet *laf*)

I was not going to get it because of the price, but my wife gave me the ok for an anniversery present. One of the best games I have played. Now I don't have to enter for the one Scott and Prize Goddess are giving away.

I wasn't going to get it because of the price either, but I just got the go-ahead. Only problem is, I can't find it anywhere (at retail price) for the 360 right now. I went to Best Buy's website today and it said it was available online only. So I ordered it. I then get an email a couple hours later stating it is on back-order and I won't get it by Christmas. I checked the website again and now it says not available!

Basically I'm getting it because we are having family over for Christmas eve and again on Christmas, and it looks like a good game for larger crowds. Anyone know if there's anywhere to still get it now without paying a premium? If I can't get it by Christmas eve, it's not really worth it.

It's all over the place in my area, I think its a regional thing. I read about people having trouble finding it, but I have yet to be in a store since it was released that hasn't had multiple copies. I was in walmart last night, and they had at least 20 copies stacked up.

We skipped GH3 due to a money crunch at the time, and then ran into Rock Band on Black Friday poking around for deals... brought it home, and now I think we're not even going to bother with GH3 other than maybe as a Gamefly rental in a few months. Or maybe a purchase as a budget title much later.

RB + GH3 is why I am so broke lately :D

Love being able to use the Les Paul wireless on RB, Since the Strat suxxor (strum broke waiting on replacement :()

Same here - my Target had a big piece of carpet right in the middle of the aisle when you walk in the door, and the only thing that was on it was a big stack of GHIII and RB for all platforms...

You're just a couple days too late... They are everywhere over here.. I'm surprised that they don't have them stacked in the doctor's offices, as that's about the only place I have been lately that I haven't seen a stack of them.

I just got back from Chicago. I could have brought one with me, if I had known before leaving :/

Haha, thanks! My wife works about 50 miles west of Chicago and found it at a Best Buy way out there today. Looks like I'll get to rock out the holidays after all. :D

Question for all you Rock Band fans out there. Can you use a guitar from Guitar Hero for this game? I would love to try it but not to sure if the Extra $110 is worth it for the equipment. I already have two guitars from Guitar Hero that I would use with the game.

JAG72 - the ps3 version does not work with the ps3 GH guitar, but the xbox360 version does work with the GH guitars. However, you'll want to buy the package with the equipment since it comes with the guitar, the drums, the usb hub, and the microphone. The drums are the most unique/fun part of the game (at least the most "different" since GH doesn't come with these!). you'll either want to get the official microphone, or use another usb mic source, as the headset microphones don't seem to work very well for most people. And with all of that equipment, you'll need the hub to hook it all together.. so the extra cost is well worth it for the additional equipment and enhanced experience anyhow :)

Like lumpkin666 said, you are definitely going to want the drums. Personally, I couldn't stand the strat so I ebayed it. Take that $50 off the price of the game and I only have $120 in the whole thing. I'm not sure when they will start selling the drums separately, but I read somewhere that they would be $80. Throw in a $30 usb mic, and you're still at $170.

Well I went ahead and bought the 360 version today. So far I have not played anything but the guitar. It is a pretty fun game and I personally like the music much better than any of the GH2 or GH3. My daughters are really exited to become the rest of the band.

FYI, looks like a few new songs tomorrow as everyone unwraps their latest gift:

Dlc 12/25/07 - Rock Band - Forums

While I'm not a fan of these bands (I'm an 80's guy) I'll still grab them since they are only 99 cents and I love supporting this company. Maybe we can get Who's Next by New Years.

Wish everyone on SG a very Merry Christmas.

Dave
For 99 cents, I'll grab a couple of them:up

oh my god. I got this game for christmas and really wasnt expecting it because i told my wife that i wanted to play first incase i didnt like it. well needless to say that since I christmas i have been playing it endless. After I got home from work last night I played for 3hrs then today left work early and played for 4hrs. Its so addicting.
