100 National HD channels for DISH in 2008

Tell that to the people that purchased a 921 DVR because Dish in their product advertisment and spec sheet said it would have it's "DishWire" port enabled to allow for content to be copied to D-VHS records. Dish changed their mind and never did enable the feature and people that purchased a 921 got nothing.
I wasn't aware that any 921 ever had a firewire port (none of the ones that I've seen did). I wondering if even the JVC HM-DSR100 had a firewire output.

I guess it comes down to what's important. Lack of promised support for a format that never really got out of the gates or reaching anywhere near the "up to 100" HD national channels (which was originally an unqualified 100 channels) that D* promised for 2007.

Perhaps your argument is more akin to D*'s failure to deliver on the "massive gaming league" that was promised at the 2006 CES. Maybe it was DIRECT Date. I can't remember.

I'm thinking it's more like the 76 national channels that DISH proclaims to have right now. ;)

Which is about 25 MORE THAN THEY ACTUALLY DO HAVE.

And HD only pack,Com On your kidding right! $30 for what?
For $10 more, you can get 5 HD channels from D*. There's a big win.

An ARPU of $87.40 isn't exactly the tight budget solution when you figure that 59% of D*'s customers don't have HD nor a DVR.

Can't help it that you weren't aware if that problem, it was an issue especially to people that spent $1K on a 921 and then more money on a D-VHS deck and then have E* drop the feature. Just in case you don't believe me here's a couple old threads about E* having the feature on the 921:

921 Dishwire/Firewire activation? [Archive] - DBSTalk.Com
921 Firewire Ports Will Never Be Enabled? [Archive] - DBSTalk.Com
921 / 6100 Firewire Will Never Happen [Archive] - Digital Forum

The point of my 921 example was that E*'s done this before with saying one thing then doing something else and folks have said sue E* and you'll win on cases like this and it never happens.

As for your D* channel count garbage, I guess D* hired the same person that counts HD channels for E*.

99% of the whining around here would stop if Dish would just add 2 channels - SciFi HD and Speed HD. Surely they have room to add those 2 before launch?

Eh, well maybe 98%. :D

You mean 3 channels USA-HD,SCI-FI-HD AND SPEED HD.People want them 3 channels the most.

I was hoping for a PDF or press release. I'll keep looking.

I still challenge you to compare promises of programming delivery to the failure to deliver products like the HMC debuted at the 2005 CES.

Anybody who signs up for E* based on this advertising campaign has a 100% winnable lawsuit if there are not 100 national HD channels available on 1/1/09.

Probably, but it would quickly become a class action lawsuit. Lawyers would get rich and you would receive a 10% discount on the next year's HD package :(

You're still missing the point, which is usual for you. The point is that people spent hard dollars on E* hardware based on information provided by E*, so far nobody's purchased a HMC so they haven't purchased something then had promised functionality removed.

Here's a thread by Scott with the specs on the 921: Specs on Dish PVR 921 and JVC TU-9000 HD PVR's! - DBSTalk.Com

He will never get it . He's a Dish does Nothing wrong kind of guy. There used to be a lot ,but most are starting to smarten up!

Neither satellite company wins the top prize for lying about their HD content. Comcast has that award in a landslide. They've been running an ad in the Boston Herald from time to time with a grocery bag full of 233 HD channels!

That's not all they're full of.

It'd slow the bleeding for sure. We need something new to watch because I'm mostly burned out with the HD programming. I can't find hardly anything to watch 99% of the time on HD channels. I'm constantly flipping channels when going through the All HD. But every now and then there's a good movie that I haven't seen in 5 year's on 9423. Science and History are cool channels but we need something new to keep it interesting.

Just be sure to watch the Charlie Chat this monday night..
No thanks, Maybe when he starts answering some good questions. Otherwise I don't care how much money he made last year, and how much he's going to make, and that we had a 2 year free preview of the NFL network ,that we should be thankfull for. And lets not for forget were No1 in HD BS line! Oh and "SOON" we with will have more HD capacity then Directv, and we are already close with 76 national HD channels. LIES LIES LIES !!!!

I would get my hopes up too much for the ole Charlie Chat.

Dish team summit in May should be a horse (or satellite) of a different color though.:)

Perhaps, but I think May could be a bit too ambitious. I would guess, if there is any kind of national HD "announcement" (which I doubt anyway) that it would come in September or October. But who knows?
