Downloaded the new 2.30 early this morning and the new store is very nice and very fast but -- no DTSMasterHD decoding meantioned in the notes on the firmware upgrade. Just meantioned the store. RATS!!

Another thing, now in my Audio selection there is not DolbyTrueHD but there is a AAC? Not sure what is happening there?

Both DTS Master and True HD are working after update!

I am afraid to watch Blu Ray now, I dont want to blow my speakers. All I have to say is I normally watch movies on volume 45 which is loud on my Onkyo 605, this morning I played Live Free Die Hard and now the volume has to be on 25, WOW what a difference

Could you please tell me where to go on my PS3 to see these audio options? Thanks.

On the PS3 side pull up the info+ screen while playing a movie (select button on the game controller). Will display Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD MA and give you some idea of the current bit rate. Will also display 5.1 or 7.1 depending on the movie.

Each receiver will display something different. Mine displays Multichannel, 48/96/ (192? haven't seen that yet for a movie) and little boxes for which channels are ative (shows a seperate similar set of boxes for which speakers I have active).

Cool. Thanks a bunch.

OKAY!!! Just played the Fantastic4-SilverSurfer and it does play DTSMasterHD!!!! And does it sound GREAT!!! Mr Moderator -- can you remove the 'NO' from the title please!

The sound was very enveloping and I was amazed at how full the sound field was. And I also happen to like the PQ on this movie (and I like to the movie too). Anyway, Now the PS3 is complete as a BD player -- if you have not downloaded the new firmware update what are you waiting for?

Except bitstream.

I don't believe that bitstream is neccesary but maybe analog out might be. But now the PS3 is capable with the right receiver of doing everything that BD is capable of and that is a good thing -- a very good thing.

Thanks for the title change Stuart!:)

So now we need to go out and buy a $1000 receiver so we can hear a little bit of a difference?! I couldnt find one receiver from best buy under $1000 that supported dts-hd ma. Thats crazy.

If I am not mistaken Joe has the Onkyo 605 or 805...

805... Extra HDMI input, more power, matrixes 5.1 into 7.1 and to really justify its price over the 705/605-- THX certification

It's a good midrange receiver. I'm jealous. I'm definitely not mad at him.
