Dish Network Earnings Call

Are any of you guys in business???

He is being fairly honest in what I am reading, he is going as far as to complement D*.

I heard nothing but **** about Voom for the time I have been following this board, I can;t see it being this much of a loss people.

I second that. Voom needed to be dropped. It's like public TV, some good programming but not but so popular with the mainstream audiences.

Dish needs to make money. They FINALLY admintted that DirecTV was doing the right thing by loading up the "mainstream" popular HD.

Wow. Rave is probably the most watched HD channel in my house. Monster is in the top 5. Might be time to dump pay TV.

What mainstream popular HD? Half of these channels don't broadcast more than a few hours a week of hd. The fishing network was a nice add though.

You would be surprised with the following this channel has. It alone has brought many people from D*/cable to E*. Charlie would be making a huge mistake especially if another provider picks it up.

We will see, as I said, if it has a large following it won't go away.

From what I read I understand that us VOOM, particularly Monsters HD followers, are in the minority and I understand that leaving DISH won't impact Charlie in any way. But, at least I know I won't be sending any money to that inane fool.

I hope you enjoy your "mainstream" channels mlb. I'll go get the "mainstream" channels over at Direct. Sorry, but there is no difference now between Dish and Direct.

And that is a stupid statement to say that if Monsters HD has a big following it won't go away. What, is inane fool going to keep just one VOOM channel! I think not.

And you are welcome to switch providers, and pay an arm and a leg for startup costs over at D*.

As far as whether Dish keeps 1 channel or not, Dish could very well negotiate a deal for a smaller number of channels (apparently Dish has some sort of out to only pay for the channels they show, not the whole package). Dish could decide on 2 or 3 or 4 channels from Voom, and that is it... assuming there is enough interest. Only seems like smart business to me.

I really hope They are bluffing, As far as some of you and your take on Monsters, its sounds like my take on Speed hd. I would never watch Speed and do not need it! That being said I know some people like it and would not wish away or call it useless. Some of you do not like Monster Fine, thats okay, but some of us like do, saying it is useless is a matter of who you are speaking too. I see you guys begging for speed HD, well I am begging for Monsters HD! I know Voom not mainstream, but it was true HD...scifi,usa ,disney, cartoon, mgm, hallmark, etc none are close to the quality. Mainstream is not always better.

Monsters wat the only Voom channel I watched. I loved it. I will be so dissapointed if it's gone for good.

The negativity on this stream is pretty damn funny. I can understand the committment to a channel on a sattelite network, but my god. Your choices as of right now are to keep DISH and watch Monsters until is goes away, drop DISH and don't watch Monsters, or move the the greater NY area that is serviced by Cablevision and get them through the wall. You can even sign up for Netflix and receive about 6 a week for $19 a month, burn them to DVD, and watch them when ever you want for the rest of your lives. Other than that, why not push the up arrow or down arrow once in a while and see what else is on. I hear your complaints, I honestly do, unfortunately, the 13 of you that have threatened to drop DISH all together don't nearly make up for the thousands that will join because there are more mainstramed HD programming available. Cablevision is going to drop that whole VOOM thing all-together here soon once DISH stops paying for it.

Well, money is no issue for me so the changeover, whatever the cost (I'm researching it now) does not matter.

I will say one thing. I really hope you are right in your assumption about negotiating a deal and keeping a smaller number of channels.

I apologize if I offended anyone but I am really, really upset over this. Like rhdj, I love Monsters HD and it is the ONLY reason I went with Dish. Try to understand that this is very upsetting, especially coming the day after I was elated at the addition of 20+ new HD channels.

It's not right and it's not fair. Business decision or not. It's a smack in the face to the subscribers who care about such channels, whether we are in the majority or not.

I will sorely miss Monsters HD in every way. I sure hope Direct picks this up.

he blames churn on piracy? Last time I looked you can't have a churn if you didn't have a customer. I would suspect the large majority of people who get Dish illegally were never customers.

Sure there are some that were, or still are, but generally pirates don't subscribe. Period.

I understand what you are saying but realize that I can watch shows and movies on DVD anytime I want. It's not the same. There is something unique and fun about watching a channels content like Monsters HD (or any other channel for that matter) and anticipating whats coming up on the channel and enjoying the in between promo's etc. Heck, might as well get rid of all TV since I can watch DVDs anytime.

I do watch others channels and know what's out there. But my favorite is Monsters HD. Do you have a favorite channel? Would you be upset if it went away?

I'm not threatening to leave Dish. I will go if Monsters is gone. No question. They would be stealing away my enjoyment.

How old are you...12? Sad, sad rant my friend.

Losing Monsters and Rave SUCKS!!!

NightRyder

With everyone complaining about losing 10 VOOM channels (and rightfully so btw) isn't better to bombard dish network with emails demanding that they put the VOOM channels back up. I know I miss HDNews and VoomMovies. I just got my Vip222 and 211 about 2 weeks ago. We may not win but we can let them know we're pissed. Are'nt we just preaching to the choir here?

Email Dish and while you're at it email Voom to put pressure on them to improve their programming (i.e. less repeats,New shows etc.) so this situation won't happen again.
