Voom: Swanni says it best.

Not, if the use the extra space for more LIL. It is close enough that I hope it makes Dish squirm.

I usually don't agree with swanni but hit the nail in the cofin on this one:

And if the publications that wrote those stories on Monday never bothered to update them with the Voom news, well, even better for Dish's sagging subscription efforts, huh? (Dish never issued a press release announcing the departure of the Voom channels.)

From company CEO Charlie Ergen on down, Dish Network should be ashamed today. If not a boldfaced lie, Monday's press release was clearly an attempt to fool the public into thinking Dish was something it's not.

Such behavior can only make this reporter wonder if this was a one-time goof-up or something the company does all the time.

Is this Pinocchio, or a Dish Network executive?

Oh, I'm sure that Voom (at least all 15) are gone forever. Dish certainly wanted to get those TPs back so they could put revenue generating products on there.

I could see Rainbow Media taking Monsters and some other channels back to the drawing board and selling them successfully as individual channels to cable and dbs companies. So I could see Dish picking some of them back up one day. The new Voom channels would be more like their sister channels AMC, We, and IFC.

Actually, just taking them down generates more profit. After all, I'm still paying extra for them.

Gee, maybe they should just take down ALL the channels, that would make them MUCH more profitable.

Let's hope so. I've been a critic of Voom, but still felt they were worth paying for. A consolidated Voom could have more value.

I'm really just irritated that this may put the brakes on IFC-HD. That was the thing in Charlie's old list that I was most excited for.

I wonder if the Direct TV Marketing department is kicking into overdrive with this.
The possibilities are endless for effective and funny ads based on this whole mess.

The money makers are ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, and perhaps a dozen cable favorites. A la carte would solve all of these programming woes (pay for programming you actually watch)...and get rid of a whole lot of bandwidth wasters too!

I thought Dish had a 20% equity position in the Voom channels......you would think it would be expensive to just write them off! However, you could be correct about them repackaging some of the channels if their exclusive contract with Echostar becomes null and void.

So for 8 hours, E* was roughly equal to D*.

Now they are down approx 15.

So if D* would swoop in and get VOOM, they would be +30 vs E*. That would be just desserts for Charlie on this one.
