VOOM Goes BOOM - update Dish Drops all 15 VOOM Channels

So let me get this straight, you chose E* for Voom. You are basically interested in reruns every three hours and programming from two years ago. If you are so upset by this, you should just go to their website and watch that then. This was better for everyone involved, Dish wrote off some of that dead weight that has plagued them for years and we finally got some of the channels that D* has in HD. Now if they could get F/X and the Viacom channels in HD that would be great.
FX and the Viacom channels suck. Don't YOU get it? We're not all the same.

And another thing, Dish now has 45 of the 62 national HD channels that Directv has with more on the way. So criticize the move if you want to but I know that this was the best thing for them to do.

Yep, if you can't beat the competition - copy 'em!

I understand completely, some of us like change and more programming options. :)

And some of us like to whine and complain about a network that didn't care about you anyway.:(

Tell me why on Gameplay HD we were seeing Halo 2 tournaments from two years ago being aired as new programming. It seems to me that you just DON'T GET IT. Just because you don't like F/X, MTV, CMT, Spike, VH1 and Nick in HD doesn't mean that theysuck. You are entitled to your own opinion, and I respect that, but that doesn't give you the absolute authority to say that anything that someone else likes sucks. I stated facts, you stated opinions, you be the judge.

I'd rather copy them than feel like I am stuck with the inferior brand. It is possisble that some people were brought in by their "leader in HD" claim that has been untrue for the last eight months. Now that can change.

Also, how is Dish supposed obtain a nice chunk of those when they're still caught up in litigation? We know we will never see IFC HD, AMC HD, Sundance, Fox Business HD, Fox News HD, yada, yada - at least not for quite awhile. Where's this competitive advantage Dish is magically going to create? Right, it's not there.

Obviously you all love Voom, so don't let me tell you differently. I'm just saying that Voom has made it obvious that they are not interested in garnering new viewership. If they were, they would have got better programming and stopped showing reruns all day from two years ago. You know that is the truth just like I do. If you want to be mad at Dish that is fine, but how many people were actually paying $30 extra dollars a month to watch these channels. There weren't that many I suppose, so go with logic not emotion when discussing this issue with me.

And some like to be passive and lackadaisical.

There probably are such people. i suspect though that there are other reasons why some of us are not up in arms about this particular matter. maybe these channels are not important to them or maybe they think that this is not the best way to go about things.

I am not talking about Voom here. I am talking about all of these wonderful replacement channels we're supposed to see to make up the difference. My point is, many of those channels cannot be obtained. So, where are these channels going to come from? Without those channels, there is no way E* will ever catch D*. Instead, we get the same generic B.S. marketing response we got LAST year. 100 new channels by the end of xxxx, we are the HD leader, blah, blah. Does this not irritate you?

If there weren't so many damn lawsuits going on and Dish DID in fact get those channels, I have less of a quarrel with them about kicking Voom to the curb.

Yes sorry, I inappropriately bashed the channels/providers you listed. Your post, however, was not rooted in fact, it was rooted in your biased opinion that "You are basically interested in reruns every three hours and programming from two years ago?" implying that there is something wrong with that. And while I, and many, can agree with that, it was opionion you solicited in your question. You must not really watch much Voom, as while you're correct that MUCH of Voom's programming dates from 2004-2007, they air new series, too. Lots of new stuff from 2008. Check out every other channel to see how often programming from past years airs... For goodness sake, USA should change their name to "Law & Order Monk"

I hope we have a new VOOM surprise soon. Dish has a stake in VOOM (20%?) and a lot of time/money invested in it. Hopefully intense negotiations are going on now, and remember Dish ends up turning off a lot of channels during negotiations. It would be ironic if after all this slamming of Dish, VOOM improves and comes out with a few channels that are actually able to be sold to other providers.

I wonder if Dish put voom back up and removed the 22 channels they recently launched if people would be p*ssed?

Keep calling/emailing Dish.

Why can't we have all of these hd channels as we did for 10 hours?

Come on, let's not go overboard here. I want BOTH (like we had for a brief moment in time). There are some channels in the new lineup that are good, but in Dish's case, they have a quantity problem.

Wonder why Voom is so hesitant to cut back their channels? I would rather have 7 awesome channels rather than 15 that repeat. Can you imagine how great Monstershd could be with more $? I like it as is but it could even be better. Nothing wrong with them selling 7 great channels instead of their 15.

ditto!!!
