Class Action Lawsuit against Dish for Dropping Voom?

Only a fool wouldn't see this coming. Those of us with even the smallest amount of intelligence who had Dish and watched any Voom knew that Dish went downhill beginning in November of 2007. We have been talking about this for months. Of course Dish dropped it. !
Yep! I agree again 100%. I've had E* since July of 2007, and it was ok for about a month or two. Then it Sucked. It needed a chage fast ,and guess what no change untill it was dropped 8 long months later. Anyone who knows anything about business knows 8 months is a long time not getting your act together. Sorry guys but face it Voom did this on their own.

Agree.
If Voom does not returned in some form to Dish, I will take my wallet back to *Comcast. The only reason I sub'ed to Dish was Voom........ No hard foolings

*As soon as Comcast Philly gets Sci-Fi HD

ditto!! I dont have comcast so direc will have to do.

Again, dish took 15hd channels many of us came to dish for. If dish can do it to voom they will do it to other channels.

I just hope its not something you cherish!

But i will not jump up and down.

*As soon as Comcast Philly gets Sci-Fi HD

I don't know if E* could ever do anything so drastic as to make me want to send money to the great Philadelphia Satan. :D Especially since they're the most expensive game in town.

Please..................how old are you?

I really would like to know

I'll be 33 in less than two weeks, if you must know.

An immature (pronounced in the sophisticated " 'imm-a-tour" way) reply was warranted because of the idiotic idea that the OP is going to sue Dish over this crap. He should be thanking them for dropping Voom. Voom didn't live up to it's end of the deal. Anybody that knows anything about Voom knows they went way downhill in November of 2007.

The thread lives on for whatever reason.... so the posts are going to get more ridiculous.

And as for your name.... I think you are referring to that crappy channel Mojo. It was much better as InHD and InHD2. But, all commercial free things that turn crappy need a makeover. These companies still need to make money. Dish took away Voom and added a bunch of HD nationals. Like it or not, they now have commercial spots to fill and money is changing hands.

Let's start another thread about how bad the Mojo Channel sucks. People keep begging for it. I have had it on cable since it was the more enjoyable InHD and it is garbage. You don't need your sat provider to add the repackaged "InHD, Only on cable" channel!

I really hope that Charlie will address the VOOM removal on the Charlie Chat.

Maybe it will finally open the eyes of all the Baby Voomers so we can all move on.

Whatever Charlie said at the "Meet and Greet" during the Team Summit seems to have satisfied those who attended (some who were among the pissed subs). He probably won't be able to say exactly what he did then, but hopefully enough to let those that keep posting the same thing about "Dish did this or did that".... maybe they will understand it was a crucial business decision.

I seriously do not think Dish would make such a decision unless it was called for. Obviously, "SOON" they will have plenty of room for all the coming "new" HD and the VOOM channels... I doubt they would make a decision of removing them for such a short term, because of bandwidth. Surely it had to be partially based on a monetary decision. Dish gave VOOM a ton of money, and they didn't feel it was being used as was agreed upon. I'm sure many of you who are upset would feel the same way if you had a company that gave that much money up as well.
(I don't recall the exact amount, but I do know it was more than $100 Million, perhaps hundreds... it is posted somewhere... but I have no time to search for it at the moment.)

Please remember, Dish owns a small stake in VOOM, they wouldn't just up and kill it for no reason!

It would seem apparant that the issue was with the programming and viewership, since they did not remove all of the channels at the same time, and were intending to keep the last 5 channels, until VOOM made them remove those last 5 channels.

I can understand the anger some people have about the situation, what I do not understand is why the anger is being directed only to DISH. I really think that those who are upset at DISH and keep "threatening to cancel" are choosing to see it only the way they want to see it, selfishly.

The OP is just misguided. The "voom suck" post is just outright childish.

Voom SUCKS, not voom suck.... get it right.

Mojo suck! Mojo suck! Mojo suck! Mojo suck!
Mojo suck! Mojo suck! Mojo suck!
Mojo suck! Mojo suck!
Mojo suck!

You don't want Mojo wasting bandwidth on your satellite service. Mojo is InHD- ONLY ON CABLE.... maybe we should sue them for saying they were only on cable and then changing their name to Mojo and fishing for satellite providers to carry the channel. I call for a class action lawsuit on this matter. I want the old InHD1/2 back!

I give up Comcast Sportsnet HD with all Philly Sports in HD and Daily News Live-HD for Voom. I had bad withdraw missing Daily News Live during Eagles football. But I did it to gain 15 HD channels. But once those 15 HD channels was removed in the cover of darkness, it's a no brainer to return to Comast and Philly sports.
Yeah it will cost me a little bit more, but Comcast have been trying to get me back for 2 years with some great deal offers...............Now I'm listening.

At least he's not trying to sue someone.

Actually.... I just called for suing Mojo channel for changing it's name from InHD1/2 "Only on cable" and then downgrading its programming and then fishing for satellite providers to carry it, even though it was supposed to be "only on cable," and it has half the programming it used to have when it was two channels instead of one channel. Let's sue Mojo channel.

You could try DirecTV.... oh wait, they don't carry "InHD, I mean Mojo: Only on Cable" yet.

These among many others, including DISH of course, saw the writing on the wall before VOOM was ever removed.

DISCLAIMER: All shows will be repeated ad nauseum during the month so you won't miss anything.

Back in January....

Voom is on it's last legs.. you can feel it.

Back in March....

Dish started looking into VOOM's lack of programming and use of funds back in November, maybe even before then.

I won't mention any names but you gotta love board members who complain about these threads and then not only post in them, but they post in them over 20 times!!

Just my 2 little cents...

I think both sides are mad at each other, but Dish has the upper hand and Voom needs to realize this and say ok well you can have atleast 8 of the channels or something like that, or they may go out of business this year.
A agree...if VOOM were trying to grow their business unit. However, I get the feeling the affiliation agreement basically turned VOOM15 in a pseudo exclusive with Dish Network. For example, a few of us wondered by VOOM didn't sell some of their more popular channels (Monsters, Rave, Equator) a la carte to other providers (Cable, FiOS, DirecTV) here in the U.S. - it was VOOM15 or nothing and even CableVision, their parent company, didn't offer VOOM until last year.

The only a la carte deals VOOM struck were foreign providers in Canada and Asia. Given the nature of the agreement, I get the feeling VOOM would be required to offer E* the same deal should they sell the VOOM channels a la carte or in smaller package to others in the U.S. market. Although I doubt it, this may actually turn out to be a very good thing for VOOM in the long run.

Additionally, VOOM is just a small subset of Rainbow Media which produces and distrubutes WE, AMC, and IFC. These channels are widely sold and generate positive cash flow for the company. It really won't take much to shutdown VOOM HD Networks, plus the HD studio can still be used to create material...oh, perhaps WE-HD, AMC-HD, and IFC-HD. What sucks in the $$$ they are no longer receiving from E*. Back to my previous point, Rainbow Media is very good at schlocking their wares and I could never figure out why they were so insistant on selling VOOM as a 15 channel all-or-nothing package. It makes sense there was something in the affiliation agreement that threaten their cash cow with E* if they broke up the VOOM15 package.

Anyway, it would appear that VOOM is hell bent on taking this matter in front of a jury, which may take years. Meanwhile, will we see VOOM sell their channels a la carte? Will we see the creation of WE-HD, AMC-HD, IFC-HD and Fuse-HD? If so, will VOOM refuse to make them available to E*? To be honest, if I were Rainbow Media I would use the VOOM HD studio to create WE-HD, AMC-HD, IFC-HD and Fuse-HD, and refuse to make them available to E* until they renew the affiliation agreement.

no big loss there...those channels suck. I do watch henry rollins on IFC though. But I could live without it. Bring back rave and monsters!

Especially since there was a net increase in the number of channels provided.

Again...this is only true of the HD Only package.

HD Ultimate gets HD fewer channels FOR THE MONEY (but more overall.)

On that Sunday, HD Ultimate got 19 channels for $10. On Monday, they got 22 for $10. On Tuesday, they got 17 for $10. On Wednesday, they got 7 for $10.

I know I'm beating a dead horse, but there are still so many people who keep saying the horse isn't there. Drop HD Ultimate a few bucks and I'll stop bitching.
