I recently took one of my receivers out of my home area and set it up with a portable dish. When I try to tune my home local stations it says "not available in this area" How the heck does this receiver know it's not at home? I had entered the local zip code to get the aiming angles, but suspecting that was the problem I re-entered my home zip but no joy. Any ideas?

Not familiar with that. Signal strength was excellent. The part about not available in this area still has me going. If the signal was not being received, I'd expect a different error.
Are you saying that the locals actually can't be received if you're too far out of area? I was 600 miles north of my home.

Yes, I can't get the HD spot beams from my DMA (area) from direct because the spot beam doesn't reach my part of the state....
I thought that error "no in this area" is a blackout.

I'd assume he moved out of his spotbeam for his locals but because he stated signal was good that he had moved into another spotbeam that didn't contain his local information.

Exactly. The receiver tried to get the locals, but they aren't authorized for his receiver, thus "not available".
Hi... I have been as far as 200 miles from Cincy (assume that our local beam is centered here ) and have gotten 'em. Six hundred is WAY beyond what I would expect to find, unless you're in AK I guess.Are you saying that the locals actually can't be received if you're too far out of area?
