Im Switching to directv

I switched to Directv as well. Install on the 7th. Got the HD DVR Plus package for 34.96 a month.....the same price as the Dish all HD package, but with more HD and my locals in HD. I will miss my 622, but there are ways around that.
Is that 34.96 an intro price or long term?

Here is what I got:
$99 for HD DVR
Free SD DVR

Verizon Discount ($10 off for 12 months)
AAA Discount ($10 off for 24 mos)
New Customer Deal ($23 off for 12 mos)
$50 Referral ($10.00 for 5 months)
$300 Coupon Booklet (Savings Certificate Book)
HBO/STARZ free for 3 mos
SHOWTIME free for 12 mos

...for now. That is a promotional price.

Which makes me wonder if providers stopped treating existing customers as second class citizens and stopped kissing potential new subscribers' collective a$$es, how many subscribers would actually switch?

What a concept! Treating your on-going customers like they actually had some value to you...

Sounds like you're going to get hammered in 1-2 years with fees and then you will probably want to switch back again since E* will probably catch up with National HD by then.

I just switched to. great deals. after 2 years we'll see what happens. for now i'm getting more for my money. even after the deals expire i'll still pay about what i pay now for E.

A customer for 9 years and Dish just let you go without some sort of counter offer?

Thanks to Charlie dropping Voom HD - we are switching this Saturday!

I am having my Directv dish installed this Saturday! I am getting the HD DVR, the HD Digital Choice, with locals, with HBO & Showtime which is the same as what I paid dish $127 a month but the difference is now I pay $44.98 for the first 3 months then $70.98 for months 4-12, then I pay $108.99 there after.

FYI Directv allows existing customers in good standing to call and recieve the same promotional offers that are available so after the first year if they advertise any offers you are able to call and get the same rates.

I am switching mainly due to dish dropping VOOM HD! To me now that they have no unique HD channels to justify paying a premium, and having treated us Voom HD clients whom are paying the higher end of the spectrum of monthly fees like crap; it seems a no brainer to cancel dish and switch to Directv and get the same for a lower price and have much better customer service and no more decietful tactics. :up

True , but have to renew/extent the 2 yr contract.

So be sure to come back and report on the quality of the programming at D*. I want to know how the D* codec compares to that of E*. The only time I experienced D* before the quality was not good. I think I read somewhere that the D* programming is no longer bit-starved. (For informational purposes and exercise of bragging rights; I've still got a long committment to E*.)

they don't seem to care which is why i'm leaving.

Exactly. People can keep blindly defending Dish and ragging on everyone that says they are leaving, but that quarterly sub count aint getting any prettier for Dish. Their lack of initiative is bothersome. Only thing that keeps me here is the cost of the HD Only pack. If they did not have it, I never woulda left Directv, especially with the superior channels list and PQ.

Prime example of them not caring, Vooms been down for awhile and they've adding nothing national. I could care less that they allegedly have a lawsuit with Fox or that they need to reach agreements. For once, cheap ass Charlie should spend some dough. To make it worse, we got NOTHING from Team Summit except "shoulda been there". Nice being a mushroom in the dark.
