Glad to see they listened to us and addressed the need for RSNs in an HDOnly package. Sad to see that they made it a four tier system and my bill will go from $40.97/month to $60/month.

I don't think you need to wait, can't you get that for $60/month right now? Just block out the SD channels. You still get some SD with the HD Only also. If they make people who just signed up for 2 years pay an extra $20/month, that is total #**$*%&! That would be a about a 160% increase.

Ah, so you heard about me. Was just installed with HD only three weeks ago. The rumor going around the other threads is current HD Abs customers will be have their rate frozen til the new year (or til feb...). But if push comes to shove, I will gladly step down to the Turbo Silver. I don't think I will miss the channels I would be giving up and get the added bonus of the Big Ten Network and CBS College Sports this fall... at $32.99 a month, the bill would only go up three bucks.

Any link around to show all the channels in the different tiers?

The press release was poorly written, with very little details. Eventually, they will have more detailed information(like a channel list for each package!) and limitations. My only problem with the existing HD-only package was the inability to receive your RSN and elgibility to subscribe to the $5.99 sports package.....It seems this is resolved with the TurboHD-Silver and TurboHD-gold packages.....but questions remain about what(if any) SD channels you'll receive. Also, with the "DVR advantage" option will you get the special pricing on the premium packages added to your account?

Actually the DVR Advantage thing is just bundling locals and the dvr fee with your programming at a savings of about a dollar a month (a little more on the silver pack)

There is nothing official yet, but some of us are under the impression that the tiers will synch up with the current Americas Top programming levels (Each medal - bronze, silver, and gold will equate to the HD channels recieved if you add Essential to AT100, 200, and 250 respectively). Working from that theory, I made up a mock listing based on those tiers and posted it in the Retailer Chat recap and Press Release announcement threads (which discuss this topic in much greater detail). Since it is only around 30k, hopefully Scott doesn't mind me attaching it here, too... however, don't take the spreadsheet too seriously, no one outside of e*'s marketing and programming departments know the exact details, yet.

In the current DVR-advantage packages you can add premium movie packages for an additional $10.00 per month.....a $2.00-$4.99 savings for 1 or 2 packages.....I wonder if the "TurboHD" DVR-advantage packages will include this option?

Since the HBO and Starz premium packages will include more HD (channels) after Aug 1st, the Bronze HD package + HBO and/or Starz might be an nice alternative to Turbo Gold for those of us who couldn't care less about TV sports.

I thought I read somewhere (I forget if it was Scotts recap of the retail chat or in the Press Release) existing subs cannot downgrade to Turbo Bronze :(

Found it:
Jim says that existing customers can not downgrade to the bronze HD only package. He said this could change in the future. (This seems DUMB) {post is here}

I currently sub the dishHD Absolute with Locals for $40.97 + taxes. So if/when Dish decides to increase the cost of the dishHD Absolute package w/locals to above $50/mo they will have a simple choice....
either let me "downgrade" to HD Bronze or watch me "downgrade" to not being a Dish sub -- period. ;)

It's only TV. I can live without it

I think I am leaning toward the Turbo Silver (when push comes to shove - I wouldn't loose any sleep over the channels I would loose); I think if existing customers are able to do the DVR Advantage thing, that package would be around 39.99 a month. (In the end, I would be paying a dollar less, loosing about a dozen stations I wouldn't miss too much, and gain 3 RSNs - one full time (Big Ten) and two part time)

Let me put in a word and say as a non-sports watcher (other than International soccer and track & field) I'm disappointed they folded the RSNs into the new packs rather than made them an optional a la carte option. Not everyone wants to have to pay for these expensive channels. This is something great for customers like me about the current HD absolute package: I get lots of programming I like at a reasonable price without paying for expensive sports packages that I don't watch.

Not saying RSNs shouldn't be available, I just wish I wouldn't have to pay for them in the new packs. And of course I understand there are likely other channels in the packages that other people would be happy to do without...

Me too. I don't watch sports and don't want the sports package.

I agree but... I think you only get the RSNs if you pay for DVRAdvantage. So they aren't actually "folded in".

OTH the pricing structure is so whacked that the Turbo Silver with DVR Advantage is only $2 more than without DVR Advantage while DVR Advantage for Bronze and Gold is $5 more. Given the Dish marketing team's past performance, you never know if this pricing is real or a typo ;)

They never have been an optional a la carte option before with Dish, so why should that be the case now? You have always had to have a required tier level to get the RSN's and at that level you never had a choice -- the RSN's were automatically included whether or not you wanted them...

Well yes and no :)

At the AT100 level you do have a choice even today -- AT100 or AT100 Plus. Where AT100 Plus includes RSN for $5/mo more than AT100 which does not. Above that level Dish just lumps in the RSNs as you describe.

FWIW I have never had RSNs as an AT100 sub or as a dishHD Absolute sub.

Any news on the actual pricing and programming for the new HD tiers???
The timing is perfect for me..as my 6 month promo of free HD programming is about to end by end of the July..
I currently have the DVR Advantage+Local+Free HD package for $50..was really tempted to go w/ HD Absoute+Local for $40 after July but no RSN has kept me wonder..
