I'm working on tweaking the slimline some and wanted to know which transponder is best for tuning on the 103 satellite? I'm getting the 771 searching for satellite message on the Phoenix Locals which I need to clear. All other channels come in fine.

Are the Phoenix locals spot beamed or conus? If so which satellite/transponder/s currently?

Thanks!

Phoenix locals would be on a spot beam, NY and LA are the only Conus that I can recall.

The Phoenix locals are spotbeamed (all HD locals are except NY and LA, as Jimbo says). It does not really matter which sat and transponder they are on, you should NEVER align a dish based on a spotbeam. You need to align your dish using the CONUS channels at 99 and 103, that will be 99a and 103b if you have a receiver and 99c/103c if you have a DVR. Once those two are showing 80s/90s on all the transponders ( a couple on 103b/c will be zero) then your dish is aligned correctly, and you will be getting the highest possible signals on any spotbeamed transponders pointed at you.
If your dish is correctly aligned and you are still getting 771s on Phoenix locals then my guess is that you are not in the Phoenix spotbeam, did you try to "move" to a Phoenix zip to try to get Phoenix HD locals? If so what's your real zip code?
