I am excited to see that I have 114 HD channels available. Yes, count them, 114!

Here is the proof:

This image is available on the Dish Network website in the What's New section.

When you click the picture, it takes you to the TurboHD pages, which has a hover-over on the biggest plan that says "over 55 channels" are in their biggest HD package.

If Dish wants me to believe that there are 114 HD channels, then PLEASE PROVIDE A SIMPLE LIST of those 114 channels.

I've been asking for a list ever since they started advertising an HD channel count.

I still don't have a list.

I subscribe to the America's 250 package and have the HD essentials package. I don't have anywhere near 114 HD channels unless you count the channels multiple times because the SAME HD channel is MAPPED to MULTIPLE channels.

55 stations MAPPED to 114 channels does NOT mean I have 114 HD channels. It means I have 55.

Please show me a list with 114 channels if you advertise that I have 114 HD channels.

They count all the HD PPV and HD VOD + all HD RSN Channels.

THey have 5 HD PPV, 7 HD VOD, 27 HD RSN. Plus in some markets they offer more than just the 4 major network, ie Mytv or MavTV network and they count that in there HD count even tho most DMA only have 4 major networks in HD.

They also count all the HD Premium Channels ie HBO, Cinemax etc and HD PPV event channels ie NHL season pass etc.

Trust me the HD count is a joke as it is impossible for anyone to get to that number for example Mavtv is only offered in parts of Texas but they do not have Mytv in HD in any of the DMA that get MAVTV in HD.

So sure if you hack E* I guess it possible that you have 114 HD channels but for us legit customers most you can get is like 93 and that is if you have AT250+ HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, Starz, + HD Gold + HD Platinum + Multi Sports Pack.

To get more than 93 requires counting PPV, PPV season passes, PPV special events, PPV VOD and couple of local HD non major network HD channels only offered in select markets.

And you won't get a list either. Chronic embellishers rarely include evidence with their tales.

Except that there is no 'Multi Sports Pack' like D*.
Most people get 1, perhaps 2 or 3 in LA/NY sports areas, regional sports networks that are Part-time too.

Yes, but nearly all of the HD versions are game only, and blacked out

There is no black outs on college sports at all. Between all those RSN, ESPN and your local stations you can pretty much watch any collage baseball, football or basketball game.

Yeah most of the RSN except big ten are game only HD channels but that is no different than D* with there sport package either.

Do the HD RSNs have ANY content on E* other than games? HD or otherwise? If I am not mistaken, the channels (HD versions) are black if there isnt a game on. My main point was to whether its full time or not. For example, what is on NESN right now?

There is some HD content on the D* RSNs besides games. Not a HUGE amount, but its there. Upconverted SD content also. The HD content can only increase on them over time. So there is a difference.

I need a bit of help with Dish Now setup...I have a DP301, and can set it up and get it turned on, and it shows me the 110/119 satalites, but the bar is all RED.

Any ideas on what i need to do next. I want to get my reciever downloads so I can use the new prepaid Dish Now product when I go off in my RV...

First I would start a new thread for this. You will get more responses.

Doesnt sound like your dish is properly aligned though.

I switched from D* to E* on Aug 1st. So unless something changed drastically over the last month which I doubt both D* and E* RSN works the same way. They are only active if there is HD content except for a few RSN like BTN which is 24/7 in HD.

And some of the larger RSN do have other content in HD besides games while those none game HD content might be far and few between it is still there once in a while.

But my original point was said "E* has no Sport Packs like D*" which is clearly not true, then you said "Sport Packs are a waste as everything is blacked out" which is clearly not the case as the same blackout rules apply to both D* and E*. Now you saying they are not full time networks which is correct but they are not full time networks on both D* and E* as both of them are picking up the same feed.

I think in their eyes, they only count 4 locals (not 5) and they don't count the sports alternates. To get past 100, they count all of the "Up to14 HD-VOD 'Channels'". (which don't excatly exist yet)

i pretty much just went off what is showing on my epg. i dont get cw in hd either, but i know some dma's do. there is the possibility for over 100 hd channels, you just have to subscribe to aepwith platinum hd and the multi sports pack.

This is 100% untrue. Most D* HD RSNs are FULL TIME. This does not mean that there is HD content on all of them full time, it means they are active 24/7, with some of that content (besides games) being in HD. This is the difference between the two. Most E* HD RSNs are game only, and turned off when there isnt a game on. The two sports packs dont work the same way at all.

Let me clarify, because I think this is where the confusion is coming from.

Blackout rules on Pro games do apply on D* also (although with D*, there is away around them) I didnt mean to imply that it didnt. However my point was, that when the games arent on, the channel is still active. With some HD content other than the games, this is what you wont get with the E* counterparts, and why I say they really arent the same at all. Most college sports dont suffer from the same blackouts, as you stated earlier.

I have 2 rsn ( Sportsouth, Fox South) and I have yet to see any hd except for the game only. I have both Direct and Dish. Not a big difference between the 2 providers concerning rsn in my book except non hd programs have a tad better pq on Direct.

Those two rsn are 24/7 hd btw.

Dish has a downloadable channel guide that lists what they call High Definition Channels and High Definition Movie Channels. It lists 76 channels total and does not include the RSN's.
but it does list 7 PPV channels, which I did not use in the 76 total number. I would say 76 is the number that they should use, if they were Honest.
