NCAA Football 2008-09 Season

In my opinion, until they truly redeem themselves.....outplay the competiton, USC and Ohio State don't belong in the Top 10.

MY TOP 10:

1. Oklahoma
2. LSU
3. Alabama
4. Missouri
5. Penn State
6. Texas
7. Texas Tech
8. BYU
9. South Florida
10. Auburn

BTW, Sabres here's a possible thread for you. What state has had the worst year in Sports.
Washington is making it's case tonight...UW QB Jake Locker injured in the second qtr against Stanford. He's the only reason to watch them.....the Apple Cup game against WSU can't come soon enough. Yeeeesssssh.

Are you saying Ohio State did'nt out play Minnesota ?
They lead 34 - 6 then put in the 2-3- and 4th string D and it ended up 34-21

Jimbo

To be fair, Minnesota WAS 4-0.

As for Washington, the Apple Cup, IMO, could be the worst rivalry game of all this year.

I see both teams having one win combined- the Huskies will go 0-12.

Both teams STINK.

Ohio State beat a team know as "Minnehaha".....Let's see how they play against Wisconsin next week. They beat them and I consider them redeemed and worthy of a Top10 spot.

Man, your tough.
I thought Ohio State on offense played thier best game of the year, now that they have a few game with Pryor at QB and a mostly healthy Chris Wells in the back field, they could become a fun team the rest of the way out.

Minnesota really had not played anyone either, but against the same teams last year they were 1-3 ...
two for the 4 wins were actually pretty close games, they beat No. Illinois by 4 points 31-27

Damn Straight. :)

Depending on what happen when Oregon St. plays at Utah on Thursday. USC in my book would have to do much more to be redeemed for the debacle in Corvallis.

Is Virginia Tech a legit BCS game threat or a fraud held back by a terrible offense?

IMO, their QB play is putrid- you CANNOT win a conference title on defense alone. You need to move the damn ball!

The ACC is a joke of a football conference. No, they are not a legit threat!

In the SEC for a span of nearly 5 years you could win or come damned close to winning on defense alone until the offenses caught up.

MY TOP 10:

1. Oklahoma
2. LSU
3. Alabama
4. Missouri
5. Penn State
6. Texas
7. Texas Tech
8. BYU
9. South Florida
10. Auburn

Hmm.... I don't think Auburn deserves to be there.

My top 10

#1) Alabama (although the pollsters will vote OK)
#2) Oklahoma
#3) LSU
#4) Texas
#5) Penn State (questionable unless Big 10 defenses learn how to handle spread offenses)
#6) BYU
#7) Florida (still a better team than Auburn--IMHO as LSU will learn the hard way next week)
#8) South Florida
#9) Missouri
#10) Texas Tech

Wisconsin had the biggest CHOKE of the day.

Paul, I hope you realize they got lucky the refs hosed Wisky on the 2-point conversion.

I saw the play; he didn't look like he was past the line of scrimmage.

Made that idiot Rodriguez look like a genius.

Rules is rules. Now go away, you've been hosing MICHIGAN from day one. You know nothing about MICHIGAN, and maybe less about the rules of football.:D
Why do you want to rain on the only sunny day of football I've had all season, college or pro?

This week proved that "polls" are useless. Let's review: #1 USC - whipped by a nobody. Pre-season #1 Georgia - got their jocks handed to them by Alabama. How many other top 25 teams lost? And lets not forget MICHIGAN showing BIG 10 that they are still around. (Doing it the "old school" way, with defense.)
The "polls" go a big way to determining who plays in the BCS championship. No wonder there is so much dissension over who should be playing. Maybe in my lifetime we'll have a true championship determined by a playoff series, but somehow I doubt it.

New polls are out.

Bama jumped to #2 in the AP. They got 21 first place votes.
They jumped to #4 in the coaches with 2 first place votes.

Usc dropped to #9 in both. Not far enough IMHO

USC should be out of the top 10, or top 15 for that matter.

We all know the voters can't stand their precious Trojans to fall so far.

They got it right by dropping Florida far, but WHY is USC in the top 10?

THey should drop all the way to #16!!

The polls have always been a popularity contest...even worse are the national rankings of High School football teams that will never play one another. Quite frankly, who cares...it's High School football.

I don't know about you, but I was ready to call for Coach Rod's head on a platter after the first half...still, the team had better show considerable improvement in the coming weeks.

Personally, I would love to see an end to the BCS and a return to the traditional bowl games.

Alabama and USC both have history behind them. The lazy pollster relies on this more than anything. They win a few with no losses, they climb high. They lose once, they drop only so much. They have to consistently lose to fall out of the running.

That said, I think USC should drop more. Alabama however, looks to be deserving of where they're at. They've looked damn good in all their games thus far. My Tigers better have their A-game going when Saban comes back to Baton Rouge or it will get nasty down in bayou country.

Georgia gets beat by what the pollsters say is now the #2 team in the country, and drop below USC who gets beaten by a non-ranked team. Go figure.

I think that was worse.

In the old days, if there were multiple unbeaten teams, they usually didn't play each other.

How is THAT any better?

Correct, in 1995 Penn State went undefeated, won the Rose Bowl, but still didn't win the national championship because they didn't face the number 1 team.
