I can no longer receive HDNet movies or Universal HD. Ever since they did away with the 70 something channel numbers for these, I can no longer get the new channels which are 259 and 552 I believe. I get the searching for signal. I called Directv and they said they would have to send someone out. It will cost me unless I have the protection plan. Not sure what I am going to do. I checked the signal strength on sat 99(c) and the signals are zero on odd transponders and zero on all channels that are on 99 south. Thanks.

Looks like you need to have your dish peaked, it appears that the 99 and 103 were not fine tuned.
Are you getting any of the HD channels in the 200's ?
Do you have the BBC's on, if needed ?

I am getting most HD channels in the 200's but I am not getting Universal HD which is 259. It seems to be sats 99 and 103 have little or no signal. What is BBC? If you are talking about the little rectangle shaped boxes that are going into the receiver then yes I have them. Tech support had me remove them and then put them back on. They said I will probably need a tech to come out check my LNBs and alignment. Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.

Universal HD and HD Net Movies are part of the HD Extra Pack. Do you subscribe to the HD Extra Pack?

Good catch, I forgot all about that package.
mdanderson, you need the HD Extra package for them.

You should however get HDnet (306), just not thier Movie channel.

I am having the same problem. Can't access channels 552 or 259. I am subscribed to the HD Extra package. Was able to get stations before they switched them to higher channels. Tech support wants to send someone out for $49. Which I don't mind if it something wrong with my setup. But, not if it's caused by them switching channels. With other having the same problem, I wonder.

bought used dirtv hd slimline dish

I bought a used hd slimline dish with 3 lnb's on it and 3 coax lines coming out. I just have one rg6from old receiver to old dish. I also have a new HD receiver. Do I need a converter box for the three coax to connect to then go down to my one rg6?

Your question doesn't really fit this thread but...

The LNB assembly on the dish has 4 outputs (maybe only three of these have cables attached). Connect one of the cables to your existing RG6 cables. Connect another one to the cable to your new receiver (or two if it is a DVR).

rmjones,

The signal levels on 99 and 103 are too low. In my opinion your dish needs to be realigned.

Those channels have changed. You might need to upgrade your equipment. HDNET Showtime and univeral HD.

ODU PEAKED KA/KU (thats a close out code lol)

but yea, signals are too low, since you have evens and odds its possible you have a short somewhere, if theres a switch, check the wire furthest to the left on the switch. also check your 101 xpondrs. but more than likely a peak will fix this.

Yes, I have the HD Extra Pack. I was getting these channels previously. Tech support tried to help but determined that I need a tech to come out either put a new LNB in or realign the dish. Thanks for all your input.

What do you mean when you say you need "a peak?" Thanks.

Matt,

I'm assuming that you have an MPEG4 capable receiver. If so, check the signal levels on the 99 and 103 satellites. If most of the signal levels are below 60 the dish needs to be (peaked) realigned.

I've got two receivers. HR21-700 and H21-200 and slimline ka/ku at-9 HD dish. I think those are okay. Also, tech had me test another channel on that satellite, weather channel HD, and it was okay. How can I find out what other channels are on that satellite?

mdanderson,
I think he was referring to the other guy , not you on this one.
If your sat signals are low, re peaking (pointing) the dish generally helps.

On Wednesday February 25th at 6 a.m. ET, the MPEG2 versions of Showtime, Universal HD and HDNet Movies [Viewer Channels 71, 74 and 78 respectively] will be removed from broadcast.
  • These channels are already available in their MPEG4 format on other viewer channels.
  • Customers will need to have the latest MPEG4 receivers and KAKU dish to receive these broadcasts.
  • Since January 8, we have had on-screen crawls on each of the channels telling customers to check their set-up via instructions on viewer channel 77.
  • Affected customers have also received emails from DIRECTV explaining the change.
