Dish sheds 102,000 subs and reports a Profit

Again, Why don't you have D* then???

Again, maybe I will in time. For a company and industry worried about customer churn, it would seem plausible to try to retain customers. What a novel idea. Maybe this is why Dish is in the tank with all of the financial analysts? Maybe everything is in the tank right now, but for the last year Dish has been a consistent underperformer among analysts worried about churn.

I CHOSE A PROVIDER THAT HAD ALL OF THE LOCAL CHANNELS. It's a hassle to switch. By the way, I can complain all I want. At least I can state truthful facts. If you don't like the truth, then don't read it. If you like propaganda, listen to Charlie Ergen. He is full of bull.
I think its less of a hassle to switch , Then piss and moan day after day. But thats Just me. I guess when there's nothing better to do with your time.

And we have the right to tell you that you whining and complaining is getting old and tired and we are sick of hearing it.
It's obvious that you are taking Fishers side on this and that's fine, but considering you are only looking at one side of it as you are accusing us...kettle meet black!

Don't know what rock you've been under, but we're in a recession, every business is in the tank. I don't think Charlie concerns himself much with what financial analysts think. Twenty or so odd years ago, Ergen left a job that paid well to start a DBS company that many of those financial analysts said would fail. Here we are, 20 years later, Charlie is worth $9 billion plus. Wonder how much those financial analysts are worth?

I think Bottom line E* lost alot of its customers because of the dropping Smithsonian,Gol, and yes Voom. Fisher though ,I doubt that where the main drop is from. Customers are getting sick of the loopholes. I'm happy for the most part, But E* needs to get their Packages in order, Start putting More AMERICANS to work. Again ,I like what I have with E*, But I'd much rather have Chase Carey Running Dishnetwork ,Then Good Ole Charlie!
If E* does me wrong, I'll Simple Switch to Cable Untill Fios is available.
Not D* untill they Get them Receivers up to par,and that Premium linup.

How do you know this? Do you possess some insider trading or are you just trying to throw something into the mix to antagonize me? You don't know any more other than what the two companies have publicly stated. You are no expert on this, or are you?

The ONLY point is that whatever the dispute between those two parties is that I have no part in it. I am being penalized. This is what I get Dish for. Dish is simply not delivering. Top that off and Dish is MORE than Directv for a package comparable to mine. The end price is the same and then I can get some bundle discount through the phone company. If Fisher is jacking the cost up, why is the competitor cost the same or less?
I am guessing that you work for one of them, and it's not Dish. ;)

yeah, there is so much positive stuff in this thread. Just because I didn't direct it at Dish and their numbers this quarter...

Uhhhh...

Since when are cable and FiOS receivers up to par?
Since I can Buy a Tivo unit and use it with my Cable company, And The Fios DVR worked perfectly fine, Just a little short on space. But by the time Fios is in my area, I'm sure the DVR will hold more space,or there will be some other option like External HD Hard Drive.
D* will still have slow equipment, and No premiums.

Cable TV + AT&T U-Verse are turning out to be cheaper as far as value goes, I use to get all channels + all Premium channels + high Speed Internet + HD DVR (use to be crap) + Charter telephone for a grand total of 140$ a month, because I use to be with them for so long, they grandfathered me the old package (the everything pack) and added extra discounts.

With Satellite providers, thats impossible to achieve, they won't lower your monthly bill, they won't give you discounts, all I am saying here is cable providers are more flexible with pricing than anyone else in the industry.
THE ONLY reason I switched was mainly NFL ST, the Sunday Ticket was enough for me, I can't live without my pats, yes I could go to bars every Sunday and watch the game there, but I'd rather sit on my couch and watch Football in HD alone without other people making noise besides me and on a big screen.

I am thinking about dropping my package to the lowest and go with cable for the rest of the channels including the premiums with charter, it would save me a bag full of cash yearly.

but how is the hd pic quality? the cable co around my area has a horrible HD pic.

I have to be honest here, when I first left Charter for DirecTV, it use to make me cry looking at it, with DirecTV, I could see a day and night dirrence in HD.
I checked my neighbour pq few months ago with charter, and it did get really good, plus they have the my21 channel in HD, Plus PBS in HD since day one...and with Direct, we will never know in my area.
I like what I see from charter, if I get on the phone with charter, I am afraid I can't turn down any offers if they make one to me.
Just can't, the value they offer is unmatched.....
Cable use to be the more expensive evil, now, well its Satellite Co's and their stupid contracts, I hate to be in a contract, but hey, oh well.
I am not too worried, I am not afraid of contracts, I can end my service anytime and Charter would reimburse me whatever it costs me to cancel DirecTV early, that means cashback + discounts that can run up for 12 months or more.
I only have less than 8 months left with my contract.

With today's economy, I really don't feel like spending hundreds of dollars every month on TV...if you know what I mean.
I doubt I will ever switch from Vonage, since they have been outstanding for VoIP and AT&T has been superb with their 2wire gateway router + internet connection.

The only thing I want to re arrange now is my TV Service, its horrible the way it is.
