(NFL) More Low LIFE SCUM OF THE EARTH!!

It's people like this (if we can call this low life THUG a person) that give the NFL a bad name!!

""""ANOTHER ARREST FOR MATT JONES"""

ProFootballTalk.com - ANOTHER ARREST FOR MATT JONES

Just as the “Days without an Arrest Meters” was hours away from getting back to double digits, Jaguars receiver Matt Jones has been arrested, again.
A reader has forwarded to us this link to the Washington County, Arkansas Sheriff’s office, which shows that a man named Matt Jones, a 25-year-old white male with brown hair and blue who stands six feet and five inches from the ground and weighs 205 pounds and having an address in Jacksonville, Florida, was arrested at 6:21 p.m. CDT for possession of a controlled substance.
Jones is listed on the Jags’ official web site as 6-6 and 216 pounds. He’s also 25.
We suppose there’s a chance that it’s not the same Matt Jones as the one from Arkansas who plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars, especially since a mug shot as of this posting has not yet been posted with the arrest information.
If it is Jones, he could be in big trouble with the NFL, and the law. Last year, he was arrested for felony cocaine possession, but agreed to enter a diversion program, which among other things requires him to stay out of trouble.
He also was suspended three games by the NFL.
So if the Matt Jones from Arkansas who plays for the Jags is the same Matt Jones of identical age and similar dimensions and Jacksonville address who was arrested within the past half hours in Arkansas, he’s got a big problem.
UPDATE: The mugshot is now posted. Yep, it’s him.
SECOND UPDATE: Jones also apparently is charged with violating the terms of his probation.

That's pretty tame by NFL standards. I guess it sucks if you're a Jags or Arkansas fan, but on the NFL crime-o-meter this would be pretty low IMO.

i've seen worse punishments for less than what this guy got last season. this guy is a piece of garbage.

I don't think this is the first time he has been caught either.

Dude's an addict. Get him to rehab. He has a problem. Calling him "scum of the Earth" is a little harsh though.

OK....here is where I have a problem. YES, he IS and addict and he desperately needs some help. Now, I TOTALLY agree that calling him a "thug" might be a tad overboard and harsh.

But here it goes....

...IF he had been black, would we be calling him an addict or a thug? I mean I have seen where many times, when a black athlete does ANYTHING bad/illegal...INSTANTLY...he is a thug. When a white athlete does something just as bad, he is not a thug....

this is why i said that i've seen worse for less things.i agree skin color might be involved here which is something i usually don't think nor say but in this case i feel it is.

I think a "thug" is a term that is reserved for people who beat their wives, rob, steal, murder people and dogs, such as Chris Brown, Pacman, Ray Lewis, OJ, Mike Tyson, Maurice Clarett, Michael Vick, Rae Carruth, Mike Danton, Ugeth Urbina and Mark Chmura. Doesn't matter what color they are. These are the "scum of the earth."

On the contrary, no one ever called Dwight Gooden a "thug". He was a drugee and had a problem. Just like Matt Jones.

I mean I don't think this guy is a thug as much as addict with a problem, but I was reading some post from the site that this article came from...and yeah you had some guys saying his career is over and things like that....but that was it.

I mean athletes that beat their wives/girlfriends, commit serious crimes like assult, shoot people and things of that nature....yeah, THOSE GUYS are a thugs. But have drugs..?!! If this had been Randy Moss....or a T.O. anybody else that has NOT poking a gun in anyone's face....would folks be saying "oh he just has a drug problem, he needs help..?" Nope....we would be calling him a thug.

Speak for yourself....I wouldn't call anyone arrested for a non-violent drug offense a thug. Any athlete caught smoking weed I laugh at and call them stupid for getting caught...If they're caught with something harder, I feel sorry for them.

I don't remember anyone calling Ricky Williams a thug...he was just made fun of.

I DO recall Ricky Williams being called a thug! You do not live in this market and he was called a thug, a quitter and a bunch of OTHER things.

Not by me, not by Skyhi and not by many others on this board.

We've differentiated the term "thug" and "drugee". Why you're trying to spark a debate on hypothetical's is mind boggling once again.
