And heck, if the humans/cylons did go native, and rejected technology, 150,000 years is a long time. Altogether possible for the Go'auld to arrive 10,000 years ago.
I just don't think it plausible that 35,000 people are going to abandon all technology and live off the land. I don't think they would last a week in a wilderness. It was in many ways a disappointing way to end it. I think they could have chosen to make several colonies, and do as was suggested above, but then if they did that, we would be saying, then why did they end up on earth, and how come we have no record of them.

In a group of 35000+ were there no historians to object to throwing away all record of their prior existence? Even if meticulous record keeping were used, 150000 years is plenty of time for it to all disappear as civilizations rise and fall.
The last thing Lee said to Kara "you won't be forgotten" is an obvious lie because of that decision, well I guess the two virtual characters in the final scene remember her.
Still an awesome story, without a doubt the best show I've ever seen on television, but the ending becomes more disappointing the more I think about it. Now if it had been the physical Saul and Ellen in that final scene, instead of the virtual Six and Gaius, that would have been quite interesting indeed, and maybe would have made a little more sense.

I had always fantasized that at the end there would be a resurrection ship full of Boomers to inhabit the planet and help with procreation.
I agree. Much of this talk about leaving technology behind keeps interpreting it as an all-or-nothing decision. There is always a middle ground. 'Supplies' is an open ended statement and can include virtually anything... including for example small power supplies using whatever distributed fuel is left. Even weapons. But I am sure there arent 35,000 guns to go around. Maybe a few thousand but thats it. Perhaps some communications equipment as well, again until the power is gone and depending how many they have to go around. People better be able to live without it or they die.
Also, when they left the colonies it wasnt about setting up a colonization mission with things like manufacturing equipment or needed raw materials. They were getting the hell out of Dodge while they could with whatever they had with them. The pit stop in the beginning was for war material only. As for trashing the ships, it could simply mean that they decided they were there to stay and there is no going somewhere else if things get tough. Great incentive for people to make it work. Cortez did it way back when for just this reason. Strip it down of what you need and burn the rest. And farming, after eating MRE's for 4 years I am sure some fresh veggies would be wonderful.

I'm sure they didn't do an "all-or-nothing" approach with the tech. They had to use raptors to get to various continents/islands...the Old Man obviously didn't throw his raptor away or sink in a swamp somewhere (at least, not that we saw and it wasn't inferred). They had sheds and tents...the Old Man talked of building a cabin...you don't do that with "stone knives and bear skins" (with nod to Spock )...so, I think it's safe to assume they didn't ditch all their tech, at least not until it stopped working and/or couldn't be repaired anymore.
I got to thinking about Adama's flight around the Galactica and the quick shot of the agro ship...I wonder how many different kinds of plants they brought down from there to use because they wouldn't know what would/wouldn't be edible right away...

Why is it so hard to believe that the colonists ditched their tech? Surely most of us have read about Atlantis. A make believe (or is it?) place that had tech that surpassed our own today. Anyone figured out the Pyramids where built yet? How about how the Mayans figured out time and space displacement of the Earth before any European even knew the world was not flat? Just because no man found remnants of that tech does not mean that it was not here at some point in the history of our planet.
There are alot of unanswered questions about how mankind on differant continents developed and what level of science they attained. Someone please explain to me how we go from jets that can barely approach and break the sound barrier to the XR-71 that not only could break that barrier ( more the 3 times the speed of sound) and fly in the very last layer of atmosphere on this planet. And yet both types of planes come from developement in the 50's!
I thought the ending of BSG was great -- it left the last question that alot of us keep asking -- Is there a GOD (for me yes)? Can science and GOD exist together (once again for me yes)? I truely believe that once our species puts their collective mind towards something -- a new measure of reality becomes fact. If one can perceive an idea the will be someone who comes along and makes that idea a reality! Wheather the inspiration for the idea and the developement of that idea comes from GOD or science does not make a differance so long as there are men to wonder, ponder and discover the truth.
ps: my use of men is meant to be representative of mankind -- men and women-- not just men.
