I may cancel my subscription to netflix because of these.

You pay just $1.00 for a movie rental and then return it to any kiosk in the country. So if you are going cross country on a trip, rent a movie at the airport and then return it at the airport you land at.

Netflix just raised the price on me because I rent Blu Ray. I'm now paying $26.00 a month for Netflix with Blu Ray. So I can rent 26 movies a month for the same price.

I do use Redbox from time to time and am also about to cancel Netflix.

They announced a few weeks back that they were going to start renting Bluray discs soon althouh the price would be $2 a day for those, which I am ok with. :)

Remember though that it is $1 per day, not $1 per movie. And if you have it for more that 2 weeks, you bought it.

only problem i see with redbox is that its for new and domestic releases. I tend to go a little deeper for my movies when there's nothing new and good out.

especially for my kids, i rent them all teh cartoons and movies i used to watch as a kid. Netflix is great for that

They will even give you a free rental (or 2) if you signup on their website with an email address. Since I watch a movie one time on a rental, the $1/day is great. And there is a redbox less than 2 blocks from my house. You can search their web-site for movies (even old ones).

I'm just messing, feeling kind of punchy today.

Maybe the blu-ray is still in trial as right now it's only $1 for DVD or Blu-ray.

Hell it's hard enough to get a good regular DVD out of there, it would probably be impossible to get good blu-rays out.

I do alright, but I don't use them for everyday movie rentals. probably once a month or so. no issues yet with anything I've gotten from them.

I don't own a Blu-Ray yet so the $9 a month for netflix with streaming is still a better value. We watch way too much streaming to drop Netflix now and go to Redbox where I once I get $10 movies and not counting when I forget to return them I go over the netflix price.

My local Redboxes are always out of the movies I want to watch, so they're no good to me.............
Do you ever check online first to see which one nearby might have what you are looking for? I have about 8 in the same city I live in and usually I can find one that has what I want. I live in a mid-size city though.

Then you have to drive all around town to find the Redbox kiosk that has your movie.

With Netflix they come to your door.

No you don't have to. You just check online, like netflix, and it tells you the nearest place to pick it up. That's what 'check online first' means.

every monday they send out a free code for a free movie. all other times you can reserve movies online. and pick them up when you get time that day. i get up early tuesday mornings and reserve the movies of the week and later that day after work i go pick them up. its that easy

RedBox is testing Blu Ray rentals in different locations. Not all kiosks will see them obviously. They're also testing pricing to see what people are willing to pay, hence why some are seeing them for $1 while others see them for $2.
