Turbo HD gold customers get hosed!!

I am so pissed. The reason I switched from D* to E* was because of the TurboHD packages, and I was told that any new HD channels added would be part of the TurboHD packages. Couple that with Charlie claim that the large price increases to TurboHD would be worth it, and you have a lot of deceit being propogated by Dish Network! If this keeps up, I see TurboHD customers leaving them in droves!!!

i spoke to an american in the loyalty department this afternoon and she was not very informative .she told me that the 3 channels that did not get added to the turbo packages because of contract stipulations(which i find is crazy). why wouldn't Viacom want there channels to be seen by everyone.i am just guessing that the three that didn't get added to the turbo packs are the 3 most popular and E* was just afraid that if they went to the turbo packs that A LOT of subs would drop there classic packages. I am now weighing my options as to what to do,she was throwing the kitchen sink of offers at me once i told her i was seriusly thinking of leaving. but i just need to wait it out a little and really look into my options.
 
Other than Dish has officially stated that the package is no longer offered and as of the first of 2009 no longer supported.
I know the package is no longer offered, but I just can't seem to find anywhere where E* said that it was no longer supported. I think (and of course I may be wrong) that it is just an assumption that ABSOLUTE is no longer supported ie., having more channels added. It sounds like something a CSR said. I was assured when I signed up for ABSOLUTE that I would receive all hd added, excluding premiums. Of course that was a CSR that I got that information from as well. What I don't understand on here is why people get so mad at ABSOLUTE subs. Is it just "sour grapes?" If someone gets a better deal than me because I missed an opportunity, I do not fault them for that. I would simply say, "That is a great deal and I wish I had gotten that when I had the chance." For turbo, I would be mad too if my rate was hiked and I was not given new channels. To get mad at ABSOLUTE subs seems unwarranted. It would seem to me that the Absolute package was a deal offered for a short time and when that was over it became TurboHD Gold w/platinum. To me, turbo gold and ABSOLUTE should remain the same. Just my opinion. . . . .

Lol! lol! lol!!!! Any lawyer who filed a lawsuit over this would most likely be met by hefty sanctions from the court.

i for one am not mad at any absolute sub for what E* does. I just don't see how they can get away with charging a turbohd gold sub 49.99 and an absolute sub 29.99.gold gets rsn's and absolute gets platinum.the difference to me is huge.i had a csr tell me i an still get absolute,when he tried he had to come back and tell me that we no longer offer this package(are they really that clueless)and then tried to switch me to turbo gold ,which i allready have.i had to just hang up on him.

This was also brought up on the other site. Apparently Viacom can stipulate in their contract that certain SD Channels must be included in the bundle.

As a turbo Silver guy, did I get any new channels? And what the hell is PLANET GREEN?
Yes, but everything you got, Bronze also got; ie, Comedy Central, CMT, and Spike. These seemingly randomly chosen channels could have been yours for less money...

As for Planet Green, it is the Channel of approximately three shows that run ad nauseum. First comes 18 episodes of Emeril Green, then six episodes of Rennovation, and then 4 episodes of Greenovate. Watch it for about 3 hours and you have basically seen everything there is to see on the channel. Seriously though, check out the prime time schedule; it is just constantly Emeril Green...

I just glance at this week's cable tv ratings to help put this in perspective, and here are the rankings of the Viacoms (overall ranking in parentheses) for total daily average viewers:

  1. Nick (1)
  2. Spike (13)
  3. Comedy Central (22)
  4. VH1 (28)
  5. MTV (30)
  6. BET (33)
  7. CMT (47)
I realize that these are just weekly ratings, but they seem representative to me. So again, it seems like the channels chosen for the Turbo packages are almost random. Sort of like a concession; "here, take these three channels and don't tell your friends that Turbo HD sucks..."

At least that is better than NOTHING I guess. All I wanted was FOXNEWS. I'll eat the early term fee if need be. This is insane.

Anyone know roughly was DTV would charge me for one HD DVR, one HD box, locals, and a comp package? I am paying $57 right now for Turbo Silver. I was paying my cable company double.
 
Why would Dish Network even offers the TurboHD packages if they don't mirror their Classic counterparts:

TurboHD Bronze = Classic Bronze - SD
TurboHD Silver = Classic Silver - SD
TurboHD Gold = Classic Gold - SD

Likewise, as others have pointed out...it was mentioned, said, aserted, suggested, and alluded to by Dish Nework that the Absolute pak channel lineup was being "frozen" and that customers would need to subscribe to the TurboHD pak in order to receive all future HD additions.

Like Gary mentioned, a Class Action lawsuit means nothing to EchoStar since they live, eat, and breath in the courtroom. The only thing they understand is members terminating their account. However, perhaps a little negative press can go a long way toward correcting this problem. Personally, I think Dish Network subscribers need a National Day of Protest to let Mr. Ergen know how upset y'all are with the TurboHD package and politics...and SatelliteGuys is the place to meet, organize and launch an offense:
