Strong rumors pointing to the Lions are negotiating with Stafford to sign him before Saturday. I don't know if this a good thing or not. What i do know is that we need a QB for the future, for once it would be nice that we got one. He has a NFL arm, and all the other tools needed to be successful, but this is still the Lion's, where QB's come to die.

He may be a good one, but a QB is only as good as the tools around him. Calvin Johnson is a helluva tool, but there are also 9 other tools surrounding Calvin Johnson and your QB.

This draft is about the future years and not immediate results, at least that's what the brain trust is saying. Sounds like "sound' thinking. We really are farther away from contending than one draft can fix. This will take a few seasons to fix what 51 years of bumbling has wrought.

I bet Stafford doesn't even play the first year. If they were smart they wouldn't play him.

If this weren't the Lions, that would probably be true. But that never happens here. By the third home game one of two things will have happened - Culpepper will be injured and/or the seats will be empty, prompting the Lions to through him to the "lions". (Pun intended). The most popular athlete in Detroit is the back-up QB. Normal teams wouldn't do this to a rookie QB, but then we're not a "normal" team are we? Just once I would like to be wrong about these guys.

It worked for Carson Palmer, but those Bengals were improving- the Lions are... well... bad.

Dont think they will. For better or worse its the "New Slim and Trim" Donte Cullpepper job (at least thats what media reports have him as)

Cant wait for the draft, another step in moving toward the NFL season!

Crossing fingers that one of the top LB's is still there at 20...

They need some offensive linemen for sure. Their D wasn't half bad for once.

Yeah, so they will take a QB no matter what in those first 3 picks, but will it be #1?

Here's what they should do:

Take Jason Smith # 1 and package the other # 1 and the second round pick to move up from 20 and take Sanchez, if he's still there at #8.
That is providing Stafford is gone by # 8

BTW, Jimbo, since you also root for the Steelers, are they any possible positions that could be strenghtned even more?

I know they won the Super Bowl, but all the good teams reload in the draft to contend on an annual basis.

What positions could Pittsburgh add to in the Draft?

O and D Line and Safety/CB's
