CONGRATULATIONS TO RANDY JOHNSON THREAD!

A pinnacle moment for one of the most intimidating pitchers in baseball history.

300 wins is very impressive, but I think we'll see another 300 game career winner long before we see another 30 game in a season winner.

I don't know about either one. I don't think any current MLB player will do either one.

Congrats to the BIG UNIT!!!

Also, he's 2nd on the all-time career strikeout list next to Nolan Ryan! Impressive career by Mr. Unit.

Unfortunately Randy Johnson is also one of the biggest jerks in sports. Doesn't take away from his accomplishment, 300 wins is 300 wins, but this guy is very difficult to root for.

From USC --> Montreal --> Seattle --> Houston --> Arizona --> NY --> Arizona --> S.F. Great career indeed. Congrats to the Big Unit.

15 wins a year for 20 years. Not likely in my lifetime. Every pitcher that has won 300, has a pretty impressive number of complete games. I'll bet there aren't a handful of active pitchers that even have 50 complete games.

Absolutely never for a 30 game winner. Starting pitchers are lucky to get 30 starts in this day of 5-man rotations.

Randy Johnson, IMO, will go down as the most intimidating baseball pitcher of my lifetime, and maybe of all-time. (I wasn't alive when Bob Gibson was pitching.)

At 6'11", he had to be halfway to home plate by time he delivers the ball. Intimidating? Hell yes. Gibson was more so, though. He had no problem putting one in your ribs, anytime.

That was back when baseball didn't step in and suspend for every little incedent. It sucks now. I want to see Nolan Ryan beat up Ventura again. LOL :D

I thought J.R. Richard was the most intimidating pitcher I ever saw (granted I didn't see Gibson pitch).

Unfortunately for Richard his career was cut short by a stroke, but man was he something.

I recall a Monday Night Baseball game in the late '70's, and the Astrodome had him clocked at 102 MPH!:eek:
