I have this issue where some programs will run 1 minute long. Because of this, the next scheduled program will not record. What is the easiest way to have the next program start recording 1 minute later? I have the HR20/100.
Thanks,
Chad

when you schedule a program to record through the menu, instead of using the guide, you can choose to start or stop a recording early or late. You can also go into Manage Recordings and then into the TO DO LIST and edit shows you already have scheduled

Do you have scheduled programs on both tuners?

There's supposed to be "smart padding" coming that may help this situation.

What you could do is set up a manual recording for the exact time to start the recording.

My programs are already scheduled as I have them set to record all new episodes. This example is there is a show set to record on each tuner. Each show runs from 7pm to 9:01pm and a third show is set to record at 9pm but will not as there are already 2 shows recording at that time. I tried going to the TO DO LIST as suggested, but the only option for the first 2 shows is to extend the time and for the 9pm show the only option is to start early. I want to do the opposite. In the past I have done the manual recording option, but that is such a pain I am looking for an easier option.

Thought the "Smart Padding" was already there ?

i have not had a conflict lately, but in the past it would try to automatically record the skipped show when it came on later. if the shwo runs again later anyway. another option if you have DNS is to setup the 9pm show to record on the west coast channel if you are on east coast, or east if you are on west. you can't get the other coast in HD on teh DNS channels, though.

if you have HDDVRs, you could maybe join up on the CE software and have another DVR record the 9pm show then use the MVR to watch it.

Yeah, it's a good idea to check for later feeds. A lot of channels that don't have a separate west coast feed repeat their whole prime-time schedule at midnight for the west. I do that a lot when there's more than two shows on at the same time or as in your case, an overrun problem.
