Verizon may bid for D*

It would make more sense for Verizon to buy Dish because it would cost less money than the high value Direct TV. Any current limitations with Dish (not being a deep-pocketed company) would be easily dealt with Verizon's very deep pockets.

However, Charlie may not want to sell now because Dish has lost too much of its value as of late, and he may want to try and build it back up to point where he feels he can get more money for Dish.

The day VZN buys the company will be the day I quit my job.

Vzn makes the flaws in dtv customer care issues look 100x worst. Vzn makes a bunch of monkies in a room answering phones seem like an improvement.

I have to deal with alot of Vzn billing agents and they are the most clueless people in the world. It is not even there fault it that Vzn has gotten so big there there litterly 10 different billing speciality departments and no one knows where to goo to get this resloved. Which usually has them blaming directv for some kind of billing error when there is non .

Amen Brother! They have no clue How to build a correct workorder either, It seems like everytime I get a VZN account Install the workorder would be all screwed up:rant:

There are only so many areas Verizon can build out Fios too and once thats done there would be no more Fios rollouts.

Combining the two companies together would greatly reduce costs in programming alone.

Wouldn't Verizon be able to peddle NFL Sunday Ticket on Fios if they buy DirecTV? That alone would put them in a position to kill old cable companies...

[edit]Never mind... I should have read all the way through.[/edit]

Cheers!

Verizon FIOS is 10 better than D*. Apparently those monkies are doing a better job than the weekend warrior installers at D*.

Not talking about installs, but the corporate structure. Cant compare the two. Verizon is a awful company to work for and this is comming from 20+ techs I know who were working for GTE before it merged with bell atlantic to form Verizon.

I really could care less how they are to work for. Sorry the techs you know couldnt cut it. That would make sense though, their installs are so much more professional than D*'s

Umm everyone I know still works for verizon and they were fibertechs long before fios . they laid fiber back in the 80s for GTE and still work for Verizon. They work because verizon still pays good but verizon is an awful company to work for.

Verizon customer service (FiOS) has been top-notch, the installers completely professional, and the service has been 20-months of 100% reliability and perfection. The only problems we had were with their billing/order system, but those were corrected in a few months and everything has been fine.

I get more vzn calls then I do regular customers. I personally dont like verizon because they often cant do anything right. I hate the fact that I get transfer at least 5 times every time i have a billing question on my fios internet account. Also it is embarassing when Vzn trys blaming mysterious charges on directv when we did not charge people 10 for extra insurance plan beyond our 5.99 protection plan.

There are worst companies that could buy Directv, but I rather see charlie buy us out.

He was referring to the techs i know since they are not happy with the way verizon has started treating employees especially ones that been with the company 20+ years.

Bottom line Directv problems would not go away if Verizon bought them it will only make it worst
