This is why CSRs should keep their mouths shut until an official announcement is made. No matter which way this goes there's going to be disgruntled people who were under a different impression on both sides now.

Well, being a big movie fan myself, the ten-thousand-some titles Netflix has to offer for streaming just doesn't kick it for me. Take out the thousands of tv series episodes (in which each episode is counted as a separate title) and the thousands of one and two-star movies (out of 5) and there seems very little to choose from. Also, I've seen quite a few streaming titles that don't even come close to their DVD counterparts, and the HD titles on Netflix certainly isn't anything to write home about with their 2.0 surround tracks and their supposed 720 image, plus the fact that they are almost three times more compressed than a sat. signal (see Popular Mechanics story in one of this summers issues). I'll stick with Dish thanks.

I agree w/ your statements & pretty sure don't want to watch on anything other than a PC monitor. In fact I have problems watch stuff in full screen of the net many times. I guess it is a YMMV situation.

I agree that the Netflix video quality and sound aren't very good. I'm always surprised how some think it is. I've been using Netflix for years and enjoy the service, but it is what it is.
The quality of the Netflix service is contingent on your Internet connection too. They have something like 5 different quality levels and the Netflix software determines the best solution for your particular Internet connection.
I didn't have problems with the quality here, I had a problem with the availability of stuff to watch.
I didn't see it posted elsewhere over the holidays but, "Verizon has verified that the only announced price hike for existing FiOS TV customers is that premium channels like HBO, HBO/Cinemax and the Movie Package will each increase by $1 as of Jan. 17."
I am hopeful that in the new year, with the price increases and new satellite launch, that Dish will add some more channels. I was over at my in-laws' house yesterday, and they have Fios. They just might have every channel that is available to MSOs in the US. Not all of them are in HD to be sure, but MAN do they have a lot of channels. On top of that, the SD quality is pretty good - definately better than Dish or analog cable.

A perfect example of DISH's past marketing tactics: technically accurate but easily misunderstood in a way that benefits the company. (But really, isn't that the whole basis of TV advertising? That's what small print was invented for. :rant
DISH Network will probably brag about "no programming price increase in 2010", and, after DirecTV announces it's inevitable price increase, DISH will run ads stating something like "DirecTV is raising programming prices in 2010. DISH has promised not to raise programming prices this year. This proves that DISH is the less-expensive service."
People will assume "no programming price increase" means "no price increase", which is obviously not accurate if the info in this thread is reliable.
Not necesarly, unless you have AEP with that receiver as an extra, you will be getting a $2 - 2.98 decrease depending if you have locals or not. If you get any AT w/DVR pack which includes locals you were paying $12 ($7 + 5), now it is just $10. If you were getting an AT pack without locals or the Family pack, you were paying $7 + $5.98 = $12.98, now it will be just $10.
The only people with the 612 as an extra DVR paying a $3 increase would be the ones with the Americas Everything Pack who are getting a big increase.
Still a bit confused I have a 612 and a 722K (so two DVR's) am I looking at a price decrease due to one DVR fee or will it be offset with new receiver fees. I do have one reciever hooked up to an internet connection.

I have AEP+HD Gold/Platinum($10)+Locals a 622, 501 and 2000 receiver. I still don't know what this means to me? Currently I pay $10 for the two "additional" receivers which are listed as the 622 and 501 on my account. I do not pay a DVR fee since I have AEP. I was planning to replace the 2000 with a 211 but this may change as it looks like Time Warner will be signigicantly cheaper for the same channels (even the HD channels I watch+BBC America) after this next price increase.
