Can someone post closeup photos of the STB Tuner and RAM modules with full model numbers visible? It looks like the proc is hidden underneaths of a large heatsink, so I don't think a brave one can be found to lift it up to make a shoot. ;)

FLASH CRAP! Are you kidding me? JEEEZ! Could you post normal pics and leave the Adobe garbage for the script kiddies, exibitionists, and sheep that dont know any better?

You run a website, you should know better! Now get a warm-up for your cup and get back to work.......lol. We are all doing this thru you vicariously.....hehehehe

FLASH and SHOCKWAVE should be banned from the internet.

There should be no reason to expose the uP and compromise the thermal bond. The uP was spec'd and unless we have reason to doubt it, there is no reason to disturb it.
Hi-Q/Hi Res PHOTOS will likely reveal the other support chips' Id's if they were not "sanded off".

Might just have to bite the bullet and get one of these at the higher price. I forgot about pre-ordering by the 25th :( ...

After considerable indecision, I let the grace period pass too. I'm not worried though, I hope that Sadoun made enough on the large quantity of the first batch of hotcakes that he will offer the same if not a similar incentive on the next shipment(s?) Maybe even a incentive that triggers on a minimum purchase amount to get the 10% plus s/h discount on the box. I'm sure there are several folks that could find some extra goodies they want/need to tack on to the transaction.

If you believe that the main proc was specked, pls point me to its web page or spec. I assumed initially, it was Nvidia recent low end chip for portable devices, but now I'm not sure anymore. It may be of the same decent as the Ali demod. That's why I asked for full model number that was never provided or a photo of the chip. I know people, who replaces thermal compound each year anyway, since it looses its heat passing qualities over time thus allowing the proc to overheat cutting its lifespan. Of course, one would expect only a HTPC builder kind of guy to be interested to lift it up temporarily or a repair technician. No need for this for a regular user. :)

I think the price is high. (Order from China for $149 Shipped via EMS)

This box seems to be a copy/clone of the dreambox 800hd.

Zamar,
You are correct bud. The chipset (soc) was defined but the exact uP device was not. I skimmed it and saw Ali main chip soultion and 300mhz and didnt do the propellerhead thing....lol
As you said few would go to such extremes to know exactly what they are using. If the sink was attached by spring loading/compression then it would not be a big deal, but if it is cemented I wouldnt mess with it.

Willy,
Not really. The 800 you refer to has a SATA I/F and 2 usb ports. One page said it uses a 300mhz uP and another specs a 400mhz unit.
Regardless, there are minimum orders of 10-100 units on those Chinese/Korean wholesale outlet pages (all of them I've looked at anyways). Even if you could get one for that price you stand a chance of it getting held up in customs, long delivery, overseas shipping cost/risk of damage, have no FW bug fixes, no stateside support presence, etc........
But if you want go ahead and buy one and let us know how it works out......

Ok, I did BLIND scan on 125W and got all transponders except the DVB-S2. I entered those manually, but the signal and quality were low. The receiver did not lock on them.

I will try again with the bigger dish. I think the 90cm dish I am using for this test is slightly out of alignment. With 14 wind chill temperature outside, this is not the time for me to be out fine tuning the dish. Maybe some of you who are expecting this receiver, and have strong signal on DVB-S2 TPs could test the BLIND SEARCH with this receiver.

Sorry, wallyhts. Last I checked, I have Americans working for me, not Chinese nationals with Chinese wages. Have mercy and please start your own thread about whichever other receiver you are talking about. The SatHawk is our own brand, thank you very much.

Sadoun,

Not trying to start anything. (Sorry if you took it the wrong way.)

I would much rather buy American so is your SatHawk PVR800 built in the United States?
