Hello,

I am at a loss here, and not very knowledgeable when it comes to Satellite service. When I first moved into my house I had my HD DVR down stairs and we hardly ever used it, because it was down stairs. Since, my wife had requested it be moved up. I moved the box, then realized, crap, I only have one line ran up here! I have since finished my basement, and it is going to be very difficult to get another line up there.

Is there any other way to do this? I would rather switch to the devil, I mean cable, than have to find a way to run another coax.

Thanks in advance!

The HDDVR should work with only one line however you will not be able to tape something and watch live TV at the same time. It will work, but not have full functionality. What dish do you have? There may be other options but it would depend on what dish and model HDDVR you have.

It does work, but I would be able to like to record something, and watch something else. I have a 5lnb slimline dish. The dish and HD DVR is only 2 years old. I do not know the model of the dvr, but it is black, has a blue light up right, supports VIIV, and all that. Does 21 sound right?

The only other option would be to add the SWM8 module to the four outputs of the dish or change the LNB to the SWM version. This will then allow you to use the one line with compatible receivers

I'm guessing DIRECTV would just send a tech. out to run another line, not replace your stuff with SWM.

You'll probably have to buy and install the SWM stuff yourself or hire a local DIRECTV installer to do it.
