When the service launches I assume it will only be available in the continental US.
Any plans to make it available to areas inside the footprint of AMC16?

As a satellite retailer, will I be able to offer it and display it in my store?
Do you have any plans of using satellite retailers to distribute your product?

I heard this question asked on the chat but the answer didn't really answer the question.

Will the ATSC tuners support VHF channels 2-13 for OTA recordings?

I heard it get avoided to. It was pretty plainly asked why the documents only show UHF and not VHF for the ATSC tuners. I don't care if the box has 3 (IIRC) ATSC tuners if they only do UHF. I'm sorry, but apart from the technical difficulties, I heard absolutely nothing new about ther service other than some integration with game systems.

Don't take me wrong, I really appreciate everyone's time, but nothing about the chat really sold me on anything. Might be something that interests others as heard on the chat there did seem to be some very interested individuals.

According to the XStreamHD website, the media server is "DLNA Certified™ v1.5" However I could find no similar such mention for the Media Receivers. Are these receivers DLNA capable, or will they only stream from a XStreamHD server?

2 questions about XstreamHD service....

Thanks to George for doing the interview last night. I do have 2 questions though I may have missed or was'nt discussed during the show.

1. I realize that your service sounds like it is mainly a PPV/rental/purchase service but does XStreamHD have any plans to also offer cable type programming on a monthly basis?

2. For those of us that cannot get broadband service. Could you explain if there are any limitations of features in your equipment that will not work if a customer does not have broadband Internet service available to them.

Thank You

Why can't your box recieve Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD Master audio and then send it out LPCM? The answer to that question didnt make sense to me.

I want to run this system in place of my Dishnetwork system. But I can't find any pricing past one room how much are extra rooms?

and I'm very interested in the Internet streaming Hulu, Netflix, Etc...

I have a list of questions.

1. I don't see it listed on the starter packages, but am I correct to assume the satellite dish is included in the package? How about the peaking tool?

2. What is the cost to purchase extra receiver units - standard and pro?

3. What is the cost of extra hard drives? Will there be an option to order up to the 4TB capacity right off the bat? What is the file system on the drives (Linux/NTFS)? Is there a formatting tool?

4. What is the estimated pricing on purchasing movie titles electronically and with BD delivery? Will there be an option after you rent that you can purchase the title with the rental fee applied towards the purchase price?

5. Is there some sort of copy protection on your content that so that it can only be played while connected to your media server?

6. The spec sheet states video support for TS and PS files. How about mkv containers, wmv files, others?

7. Will it support up to 24/192 flac? Can it stream these files as PCM or wav?

8. How is content copied between drives? An interface on the media receiver, or via a network browser on a PC? How about pulling out the drives and hooking it up to your PC via an eSATA dock or such device?

Thanks for any answers.

Listen to last night broadcast Vurbano this was answered at length (and I think your going to like the answer) :)
The part I heard when I tuned in said that because most people don't have the equipment to decode trueHD they do not support it. Isnt that what he said? I admit I didnt listen to the whole broadcast. But maybe thats not what he meant, certainly the box would decode most anything to LPCM. I also remember hearing an excuse about how TrueHD couldnt be downrezzed for people who do not have the equipment to decode it.

Aslo when their box sends out DTS HD MA is it bitstreaming it or is it PCM?

What I heard on the broadcast about TrueHD was:

Since DTS-MA contains the DTS-core that pretty much everyone would be able to get sound of some form from xstreamhd service, whereas TrueHD requires TrueHD support or no go, no DD5.1 component similar to DTS-Core in TrueHD.

So from a simplicty standpoint, just doing DTS-MA covers most everyone's equipment new or older. I seem to recall something about LPCM, but I can't remember what exactly. Maybe I'll got back to the podcast and listen later today.

I'm still curious when some of these questions in this thread will be answered.

Answers to questions...

Hi Guys,

Sorry about the delay. So many great questions were raised let me try to begin by answering the following:

1. Where will the service be available? It will be available in the US, Canada, Bermuda and the Bahamas.

2. Will you be able to access all of your off-air broadcast channels, including VHF 2-13? Yes!

3. Will you be able to distribute or sell XStreamHD directly to your customers? Please contact jwrigley@XStreamHD.com (he's in business development) and he can discuss dealer/distributor opportunities with you.

4. Once DTS MA is decoded by a media receiver it is streamed as PCM.

More answers to follow.

Thanks,

XStreamHDGuy
