I have the SV-360 elite pvr and I am wanting to hook it up with a big dish with c/ku band, can anyone tell me if I have to slave an older big dish satellite receiver to this to get c-band channels, Or is this just used as a positioner, will the SV-360 receiver pick up the c-band channels?

I've got a 360 elite and just put a 7.5 Unimesh in last week. Don't have it tweeked in yet, but I'm using Gbox to test it out in the yard. Right now I have it on 127W and watching LCN.

it should

It should get the digital C-Band signals...just set the lnb to 5150 on the 360 and get on an active transponder and scan away. It should do just fine...

You might have to switch the polarity using your C-Band receiver and to be safe you can just leave the C-Band receivers LNB connection unhooked unless you have a voltage controlled LNB...in Which case you can just use the FTA receiver to switch polarity...

C-Band lnb to the FTA receiver...LNB setting to 5150

If you want both the KU amd C-Band then you need a Diseqc switch and the KU settings I think are 10750 best I recall...
To start out just to make things simple just try going for the C-Band with no switches ...

get on an active transponder, you can use the list to find one on the satellite you wish to use.

Use the C-Band receiver to get on the correct polarity

Then do a Blind Scan using your FTA receiver...

If you have a good size BUD and don't want to bother with the positioning hardware, wiring and the labor, you can always use it as a fixed position dish and mount multiple lnb's. you can get 3 to 5 lnb's on one big dish and there's no waiting for the dish to move, you'll have instant channel changing. Besides, there isn't really a lot you will find on C-band outside of the group of satellites that can be had on a fixed dish. I'm currently getting 5 satellites on my fixed 10.5' BUD, each satellite is 4° degrees apart which are the 87W, 91W, 95W, 99W, 103W. There's a couple of other sats too. You can choose whatever you want to do, do it your way and have 3 if you want, as long as it works for you.

Pretty much any DVB receiver out there can decode C-Band and KU (as long as you have the right dish/LNB) ;)

Ok, thanks everyone, I think that answered my Questions, and gave me a couple of ideas.
