I currently have a VIP 722k, and was toying with the notion of getting a 922. I'm just not sure I want to spend the $200. I definitely need to expand my high-def storage, and was thinking about getting a hard drive. My question is: what hard drive's are people using? The dish website says that you need to hook up a hard drive with it's own power supply. Looking at a 1-TB hard drive are running around $120 and then $30 for activation, I could just get the 922. Or are there cheaper hard drives.

Okay....I get that it sounds like I'm trying to rationalize the 922 purchase. You're probably right:) Any thoughts welcome.

I just ordered a Western Digital 2TB hard drive for $159 ( no tax and free shipping ). I'll let you know how well it works when it arrives. :D

I'd appreciate that:) although, forgive my ignorance, but I thought it said on the dish website it worked only with a 1TB max?

Keep in mind upgrading to a 922 brings your DVR charge from $6.00 to $10.00.

Go external but remember it only will see 1TB out of the 2TB available.
