Dallas Braden of A's throws 19th perfect game in MLB history

A’s pitcher’s Granny says Stick It, A-Rod!

Written by playerpress.com, Monday May 10 2010

After pitching a perfect game on Mothers day, Oakland Athletics pitcher Dallas Braden's grandmother told the Yankees third baseman to "stick it."

Before Sunday’s perfect game, Braden had made more of a name for himself this season for his enraged reaction to Rodriguez walking across the mound back on April 22, accusing the three-time AL MVP of breaking an unwritten rule of baseball etiquette.

A day later, A-Rod still thought it was pretty funny and did not see the big deal.

"I was tired," he said. "It's really not that big of a deal. I've done that maybe a few dozen times. It's the shortest route. As I said yesterday, I thought it was pretty funny."

Braden did not think it was funny as he yelled at A-Rod after the inning was over and continued complaining after the game, saying how disappointed he was in the Yankees slugger.

They were going back and forth in recent days and the rift was still making news leading up to Sunday's start.

Following her grandson's perfect game on Mother's Day, a chuckling Peggy Lindsey joined the Braden-A-Rod feud.

"Stick it, A-Rod," said Lindsey, who was in the stands in Oakland on Sunday afternoon to see her grandsons perfect game.

After the Yankees lost 9-3 loss to the Red Sox on Sunday night, A-Rod was asked to comment on Braden's grandma's comments.

"Uncle," A-Rod said.

...NICE....

Personally, I'm going to give Grandma a pass. A woman who had to bury her daughter and help raise her grandson, just watched him pitch a perfect game...on Mother's Day, no less. She's earned the right to say 'Stick it A-Rod', that's for sure.

She has earned a right to have something good happen to her and good luck...but what has A-Rod done to HER or her son's career? I mean A-Rod stepping on the mound has not hampered his career one bit. IF ANYHTING, since that incident, the media has payed a littled more attention to him before the perfect game.

Sounds like Grandma was just having a little fun with it. I wouldn't take it too seriously. Good for her.

On the other hand, I just heard that Evan Longoria tried to bunt for a base hit in the fifth inning. Really???

Didn't this bother Mr. Unwritten Rules? So you can't touch the pitcher's mound, but a slugger trying to break up a perfect game with a bunt is OK in 'the 209'?

That place has some strange rules...

Hard to believe '209 Boy' didn't go bananas over that one.

She's probably not the first woman to utter those words to A-Rod*, although apparently for different reasons than most....

Arod is everything that is wrong with baseball.

MLB, OWNERS, TV and the UNION is everything that is wrong with baseball. The players are the ONLY thing real about the game. They have not changed, the players 50 years ago wanted the same things the players want now.

You keep reading your reporterss and THEIR version of what is good or bad about the game.

The players are real? Steroids? And 50 years ago what did a baseball player make compared to today? Who's paying the salaries of the overpaid players. You and I are. I will remember your comments the next time a player charges my son $50 for an autograph at a trade show.

This reminds me of the fan who yells about the cost of cup of beer at the ballpark and blames the owner.

LMAO!! You don't think the players used "greenies" and other substances 30 or 40 years back? LOL!! YOU and I aren't THE ONLY ones paying these salaries.....TV is and those multi-billion dollar TV contracts. YOU and I do not spend nearly as much as the average corporation and their skyboxes. The greedy as hell owners would LOVE to have players make and think like the players from 40, 50 and 0 years back.

And about your son, do like I do with mine. You raise them NOT to idolize some for his money. But teach him how much time he had to dedicate to be where he is....and maybe YOU might realize that when you go to the stadium so see them play....you will see a dedicated player and not a $$$$ sign.

OH YEAH, one more thing...I have gone to a couple of those card signing shows, MOST are adults beggin' their kids to sign something because they HOPE to sell it on EBAY a week later. When I use to collect autographs and pic....it was because I liked the player....NOT to hawk it off on some online auction.

You're the one that said the players are real. Now you don't even stand by your own comment by saying players have been taking substances for years. So what is it?
