Dish has, Scripts, Viacom, Disney, and rainbow media! That's every dam provider out there for the most part. The common trend is dish! Not the providers. I dont buy the spin that they are fighting to keep your prices low as every other provider out there has been able to successfuly negotate prices without having to have the channels yanked or pulled!

You are forgetting the MSG's HD's and YES, that aren't there either. So basically now, if are NY Baseball Fan, you are shut out completely for the Yankees in HD. No YES, No ESPN HD, and No MLB..net. That is why I am no longer with Dish.

All of the DTV execs. are singing the cha ching song right now. :D:D Hopefully, a positive outcome comes from this, and we get the HD feeds back. ESPN 3D and ESPNU HD.

I am a bit surprised they have not jumped on this for a promotion yet, someone at Directv needs to keep up on there reading with Satelliteguys :D:D

Yeah, I wonder how fast can they put a commercial together attacking DN on this issue?
You can bet that Disney will be going after D* next if they are not paying for the HD versions of the channels.

Dish Stops Carrying Four Of Disney's HD Channels

Satellite Operator Cites 'Significant Fees'; Disney Says Dish Never Had Rights to Offer Channels

By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 6/22/2010 12:28:42 PM

Dish Network has stopped carrying four HD channels from Walt Disney Co. -- Disney Channel HD, Disney XD HD, ABC Family HD and ESPNews HD -- claiming that the programmer is asking for "significant" carriage fees, while Disney said Dish did not ever have a deal in place to carry those channels.
The standard-definition versions of those four channels are still available on Dish, as are ESPN HD and ESPN2 HD.
"Dish Network offers all customers ‘HD Free for Life,' which is possible because we are committed to negotiating fair contracts that allow us to keep our prices low," the satellite operator said in a statement. "That is why we could not agree to the significant fees requested by Disney and ESPN Networks for the HD feeds of Disney East, Disney XD, ESPNews and ABC Family."
Dish said it is continuing to negotiate with Disney and ESPN Networks and that it hopes "to reach a fair resolution." The "HD Free for Life" promotion waives Dish's usual $10 per month HD add-on fee for customers who commit to a two-year contract.
Disney responded in a statement, "The recent New York State Court ruling confirms our position that Dish Network is not entitled to carry ABC Family HD, Disney Channel HD, Disney XD HD and ESPNews HD without paying compensation. We hope that Dish will work with us to reach an agreement so that we can make these HD networks available to their customers."
The court ruling referenced was in a breach-of-contract suit Dish filed in 2008 against ESPN and ABC alleging Disney did not provide high-definition feeds of the Disney Channel, ESPN News, Toon and ABC Family. In March 2010, a New York court ruled that Dish owes Disney approximately $65 million under the applicable affiliation agreement. Dish is appealing that ruling.
Dish, separately, sued ESPN last year alleging that ESPN breached its contract by not extending the same carriage terms the programmer provided to Comcast and DirecTV. Back in 2002, the satellite operator dropped ESPN Classic for several months in a dispute with Disney that involved ABC Family.

My question is........ I signed a contract for them to provide services to me for 2 years. They have since changed the services that are covered in the contract. Shouldnt I be able to walk away without paying them a cancel fee?

NO

READ THE CONTRACT YOU SIGNED

I. Changes in Services Offered. We may add, delete, rearrange and/or change any and all programming, programming packages and other Services that we offer, as well as the prices and fees related to such programming, programming packages and Services, at any time, including without limitation, during any term commitment period to which you have agreed. If a change affects you, we will notify you of such change and its effective date. In the event that we delete, rearrange or change any programming, programming packages or other Services, we have no obligation to replace or supplement such programming, programming packages or other Services. You are not entitled to any refund because of a deletion, rearrangement or change of any programming, programming packages or other Services.

Dish could remove every single channel from their line up and there is NOTHING you could do about it.

Don't like it? Don't sign the contracts and pay the equipment fees up front.

Nope. The contract we all signed but didn't bother to read is pretty clear that they can change programming at any time for any reason.

Great what a pain in the rear

I wonder if the dvr timer for ABC family HD needs to be changed or if it will just revert back to the crappy SD channel.

Dish should jack up the bit rate on the SD channels until the HD comes back.

Can someone help me understand this suit? It sounds to me like Disney is saying Dish never had a right to carry them in HD. But (correct me if I'm wrong) those channels are not distributed on C-band FTA. Obviously at some point they gave Dish access to them, and if there was no agreement, how had Dish carried them for over a year.

They are on Cband, As to what condition, I dont know, But I think they are encrypted. I do know that they require a 12 footer to get them reliably though as they are in s2.
