Several of us at DBS are starting to see an issue you should be aware of. Random OTA recordings will go straight to Keep/Delete when you try and play, and some are just a blank screen. Resets of DVR will make some of these recordings disappear.

Two people that have commented in the last 24 hours, have also noted they had some other HR model before this and had ZERO recording issues.

I feel there is some issue between the AM21 and HR24, so record OTA at your own risk. I've moved to recording sat only local for now.

Huh....I'll try it with mine. No issues right now with my HR20-700 which I use for most of my local recordings. I'll set some on my HR24/AM21 and see what happens....

Yeah, I had not seen anyone with the issue, but I think now as more and more upgrade to the HR24, they are starting to post the same issue.

And as more and more get HR24's you'll see more and more issues.;)

Part of buying a brand new product.

I'll wait I think on mine.:)

I'm scared of the HR24 and Vip 922,
Mostly the 922's fees though, and the pethedic Dish website that your remote recording has to be completed through.

Yeah, I figured on bugs, but not with an existing product. Funny thing was, as usual, people at first thought I did not know what I was talking about. Now more people are coming forward with the issue. Only real reason i record OTA is for reliability, but I'll take rain fade vs this random issue of losing the WHOLE program. I'll be able to fit a lot of programing on this 1TB EHD :)

I haven't had this issue yet. hopefully i don't but it sounds like i should.

Agree.

Whats funny is you'll see new post all over about the issues , and they will all be worded different.

Any issue for that matter.:)

have you noticed any other bugs? i really haven't. and i will trust you on that am21 issue because i don't do much recording over ota

Only other bug is the audio drop out of trick play, but that does not bother me.

I just dont like it when you get the canned response to a blank recording, which is "bad hardware, bad wiring and bad LNB".

They are so used to this on blank sat recordings, but OTA is different, plus there aint much wiring in my case.

Now that other users, with previous models are saying the same thing, it makes me almost certain there is a bug between the 24 and AM21.

Thats what I want to see, all the issues before I get the HR24.

But OTA isn't an option for me , so this one not a biggy to me, But I'm sure OTA is a Big issue for many.

My Technition Friend has the HR24 and OTA isn't an option for him either, I was messing around with the HR 24 over the weekend. Clearly better then the other HR's.

But I think it could still use a few tweaks here and there.

I'm not really liking Hr23 right now . Ever since this new software for 3D, its seems sluggish at times. It wasn't that bad the first month I had it. And now using the HR 24 it really bugs me.
But I already Know D* they will send out a Tech, and he'll say its fine.

I have had two small issues. Lost MRV a couple of times, which a reset fixes. I also lose caller ID from time to time. Other than that, it's been flawless..

Ill post as I see em, but other than some audio drops after trickplay (fixed by a jump back or two and doesnt happen often), or when starting a program, I've not seen any issues. I love the speed, and its working with the EHD flawlessly. I'll be adding DECA, via install, sometime in Aug.

I don't believe this is specific to the HR24 -- I have a couple of HR20s, an HR21, and an HR23, and they all exhibit this behavior when recording some OTA channels. It happens on FOX OTA more than anything else, and if you do a Google search, you'll find a lot of discussion about this. It started sometime last summer, and it's been happening ever since. I gave up recording OTA on any of my HR boxes -- bought a TiVo Premiere for that instead. No problems.

I haven't recorded much OTA of late as all the series are done at this point.

This is really interesting as I have had NO problems recording OTA at all, so far, now as I said, I haven't recorded much of late because my series are over now, but till then 90 % of my recordings are OTA.

More folks are starting to report the same OTA issue at DBS. I think D* is gonna have a little bit of an issue with angry AM21 owners.

Is the HR20-100 immune from these issues? I bought an owned one to add to my install.

I probably will add a AM21 to one of my HR24s as well.....instead of using a rotator...I think I'd rather have one antenna pointed at Minneapolis (VIKINGS) and the other pointed at LaCrosse, WI (PACKERS) and just dedicate one to one and the other to the other.

So, I'm curious....which OTA tuner has the fewest issues.
