Big Ten to a Nine game schedule

Why would it be more than 1 weekend.
It would be the two top teams , just like the SEC does.

It would be even BETTER if they decided to have the last game of the season the weekend after Thanksgiving (which they are) and have a week off and the Championship game the next week.

I like that idea even better.
That would make the CG the second weekend of Dec., much better spacing for the bowl games.

Honestly, I don't think I ever knew that. So the Colleges with Conference playoffs are just 1 extra game? Interesting. Being a fan of the Big 10, I am removed from what other conferences are doing. But in reality, a lot of times, the last game of the season (OSU vs Michigan) IS the Big 10's Conference Playoff. More times than not, the winner of that game is the winner of the Big 10.

If that's the case, I think I agree with Sandra. I don't want to see OSU/UM play twice in a row. What if they split? Who's the better team in the eyes of the fans?

The ACC tried to set up their divisions that Miami & FSU would meet in the CCG, so far it has never happened.

OSU and UM should be in the same division and play the last regular season game of the year.

This is a point I've wondered about for a long time.

Also, keep in mind, the Winner of this game will go to the BCS game , but other members will also be going to bowl games as well, very possibly BCS games as well.

Currently your allowed 2 teams in the conference to be in the BSC.

So tell me Jimbo, are you excited about a Big10 conference championship game, and are you going to hold on to your current opinion of CCGs: it's just all about the money? Personally I think it will make the Big10 a much more interesting conference.

This one:
are you going to hold on to your current opinion of CCGs: it's just all about the money?

The ONLY reason they are going that way is for more MONEY.

They even come right out and say it.

In the face of other conferences doing it, they have to go that way or else get left behind. But the money sure won't hurt either.

What about the first part of my question? Excited about a CCG in the Big10?

I would be excited about this news and the addition of Nebraska to the Big Ten ranks if it weren't for one thing...Rich Rodriguez! This sack-of-shite is preparing to single handedly sink the Michigan football program and lead (if his dismal effot can be called leading) the team onward to yet another losing season. Of course, the Wolverines did not experience a losing season in the 40-years prior to his arrival...but I'm sure he'll blame Coach Carr and George Bush. :(

Well, as hard as LSU fans are on their coaches (and some times unfairly), maybe Michigan will have Les Miles at the helm next year. We'll see how things work out. ;)

It is about the money, but I agree with you. Given time, I think that Jimbo will get excited about the CCG at the end. I know I do, even if Bama is not in it.

Division 1
Michigan
Michigan State
Iowa
Nebraska
Illinois
Northwestern

Division 2
Ohio State
Penn State
Wisconsin
Minnesota
Purdue
Indiana

I am not sure I agree that the conference will be split this way. I could see more of a North and South split with Wisconsin and Minnesota being in the same division as Michigan, MSU and Northwestern. I am not sure who would be the sixth team in that division (Penn St or Purdue).

This was just a list that Barry Alveras had come up with, nothing has been determined yet.

I think I read they will vote on it in Sept.

You will buddy, wait and see. Only two teams can make it to the NCG, but a CCG is always a nice achievement in any season. :)

Ohio State fans are just really upset about the very good possibility of losing the Michigan game as their final game of the season.

(Not talking about you Jimbo, just fans in general)

Naw, I'll take Harbaugh over Miles any day of the week. It'll help out the NFL, putting more Tom Bradys into the pro game, and less of these "wildcat", spread Tebows.

Thats alot of it. Winning the conference just through the reg. season formula is one thing. Playing for it is another. It adds another dimension to the season.

Jimbo, this is a good thing. Trust me.

I can understand that. If we were split with auburn in different divisions and had to play them at another time....well the Iron Bowl would just be different. Id keep them in the same division if it were me for that simple reason.

However, I do see the allure of having them meet in the CCG. I can understand splitting them up and having the regular game earlier from a conference money standpoint.

I guess the closer comparison for a Bama fan is Tennessee. That is traditionally as big of a rivalry as the Barn. Playing it in October is still great, although we have not met in the CCG yet. But it would be sweet to do so.
