MLB 2010 Season

Also, it's worth mentioning that like any heavily populated urban city, 40 miles is a hell of a lot different from other areas in the world. I don't know if any of you have driven through DC/Baltimore area, but it would take well over 1.5 to 2 hours just to go such a short distance. Traffic is an absolute nightmare there.

I live in that area, and I'd say its just as easy for anyone 40 miles away to go to the Baltimore stadium as it is for anyone from 40 miles in the Boston suburbs to get to Fenway Park, but it is more difficult to drive to the Nationals Park.

Washington, DC continues to be a football town, notwithstanding the fact that they haven't won in two decades and the owner is universally regarded as a gigantic boob.

THAT is huge in alot of cities that have baseball.

As I stated, only in New York, Boston to some extent, St Louis, and perhaps Cincinnati does baseball rule over football. LA is a story unto itself.

You can include Chicago partially. IF it is 70 and nice, the CUBS can have the worst record in the majors and it will STILL be filled to capacity.

Talking more about what dominates people's consciousness. I was in Chicago for a week the week before Memorial Day weekend, a few years ago. The Cubs were doing pretty well and the time and the White Sox very well, but ALL the talk on sports radio was about the Bears. Actually, a lot of it was still about the 1985 Bears.

Same thing happens in Philly. Cataldi, Micinelli, Eskin, Schwartz and everyone else talk Eagles 23 hours a day and Phillies one hour a day, even when the Phillies are winning world championships and selling every seat.

In New York, even when the Giants are winning Super Bowls or the Jets are in the AFC championship game, you still get as many baseball calls in January as you do football.

The 1985 Bears will ALWAYS be 1st and foremost in that town....EVEN with Michael Jordan winning the Bulls 6 championships! BUT, IF the Cubs were EVER to win a World Series....it will be MUCH bigger than when the Red Sox won the 1st Series in some 80-something years!

Mike Ditka won ONE Super Bowl and is AS BIG as Michael Jordan and his SIX NBA titles.....go figure!

Although the Pats popularity grew exponentially when Kraft/Parcells/Bledsoe blew into town (and even more so with Belichick and Brady) , Boston will always be first and foremost a baseball town!

The Reds blew a 10-1 lead and were down 11-10 but came back to win 12-11.

The Braves also blew a 10-1 lead today, but lost their game.

Baseball does rule over football in LA, as there are no NFL teams in LA :p

But, LA is definitely the ONLY major city in which basketball rules over their own baseball. Lakers are the team of LA.

I was watching and rooting against the Giants.

Anyone else with EI have the SF feed cut out right before the last out? Fortunately the Reds feed was still up

One of the wildest games you would ever want to see. In the end the Reds won. So that is what matters. The Reds gain a game on the Cards too. The Cards lose again to the Pirates.

That seems to be the only team the Pirates can beat.:D

An interesting King Felix stat came out of last night's Sox-Mariners broadcast:

In Felix's 10 losses this year, the Mariners have supported him with a total of 10 runs.

The Cardinals are doing everything humanly possible to squander the momentum from when they swept the Reds.

I think its officially squandered. They blew a two run lead in the 9th last night to the Nats and lost in 13 inninngs. That's three straight losses for them against last place teams.
