Its funny how the colors of the boxes and borders change your perception of things...

Many of you are saying it's much brighter that the white is too bright. The funny thing is the background color is EXACTLY the same as it was on the old software.

Before I put the new software for everyone I had a special beta site setup for two weeks and all the Pub Members could access it. During the two weeks I got all kinds of feedback from them and I made the changes they asked... nobody said it was too bright... now that it's up some of the folks saying it is too bright are the same ones who said they loved it when they used it as a beta. I can't win sometimes.

But the good news is I am working on an number of alternate skins, so that you can change the look. It's going to take me a few days though.

Thanks for your support guys. :D

Yay!! @party

on my iphone it puts the new posts drop down behind the banner, so I cant click on the FTA section

the pda version if your going to mention it is of no use, its so limited I never use it.

Thanks Scott!
You say the white is the same as the old, but it may occupy more area?
Don't know, didn't save a page before the change, just know I can only surf through the forum for about 20 minutes before eye fatigue sets in now. Before the change, two hours was common. Suggestion for a skin, High contrast, but not with bright white background. (Or less real estate occupied by white)

I still have an old Firefox tab up, loaded with and showing the old page.
And the major background is a very pale blue, with blue text on it.
So, it IS much softer and perceptually less bright/harsh.

Yea, that's what I was expecting.
We'll look forward to the variety.

I am not seeing this here on my iPhone or Android Evo...

But if you have an iPhone why not download the SatelliteGuys app from the app store? Makes using the site on the phone a pleasure. :D

well i'll be in the minority also , i think i was using the old old classic view :) with the softer blues. It worked well for me. But i not beyond change .... you know .... its just that i was kinda used to it lol .... so i will have to learn some new things and possible try turning down the contrast also .

a picture is worth . . .

Maybe I haven't been running the stock colors all this time.
Anyway, here is what I am seeing now, and what I was seeing last Friday.

I like the new interface. Speed wise, it's about the same. I'm using WildBlue ISP, so latency has always been a problem. I just have to be patient as the screen loads up.

Is there some kind of a time limit thing now? I have had to log back in when coming back after being away for a while and refreshing the browser window.

The new website take longer to load for me to i have Verizon.
For the background i much preferred the old colors easier to read.

Regarding the cookie problem. I use Firefox as my main browser. I normally have bookmarks in my toolbar, those are for sites I visit on a daily basis. I had the satellite guys website in the tool bar. I deleted the bookmark for the satellite guys, and then went to http://www.satelliteguys.us/forum.php and put the bookmark for that back on the tool bar. It seemed to do the trick.

Edit:
I too prefer the older colors/softer look as well.

Yeah, me , too ! :)
This is tough on my eyes.

The brightness actually was making my eyes hurt. The brightness causes reflections and can give me migraines. I turned down the contrast on my monitor for now. The problem is now every everything else is too dark. I used to run the old blue type classic colors, those were perfect. I wish my browser could allow me to over ride colors for just one site.

Maybe Scott could allow the option of the old colors like in the attached picture I got from Googles cache.

I liked the old design, but the new design is growing on me. I'm a traditionalist and don't generally like change, so it'll probably take me some time to adjust. I do like some of the new features, though...
