Dish may drop E! and Style

This statement was posted on Dish's facebook page:
DISH Network is currently in negotiations with Comcast, the owner of E! Entertainment TV & Style. DISH Network every year is able to reach agreements with hundreds of programmers and we hope to reach an agreement with Comcast as well. Unfortunately, Comcast is using their enormous size to try to bully DISH Network. We will continue to fight for a fair deal for our customers.

A few months ago we made the decision to drop back from the 250 to the 120+. We lost a couple of channels that we watched but the savings was enough to make a difference to us. I am not a big E watcher but my wife is, so it is abig deal in our house. I have not been on the forum much latley so I had not seen anyhting about this. Tonight we saw a commercial on Etelling us that Dish would more than likely be dropping E.
Im not so sure I want teh FCC or the government getting too invloved in this or any other issue with Pay TV, however maybe the issue should be that Pay TV providers should not be allowed to invest in or own broadcast or pay televison networks or programming????? Im not an expert but could this be heading towards AntiTrust issues????

Just got off E!'s site and saw what I posted above. Below is what was on Style's site.

This is their side:
We are in active negotiations with DISH Network. We are trying to reach a fair agreement, however, it is our belief they will once again turn their backs on their subscribers by dropping the networks and holding E! and Style fans hostage. In actively choosing to discontinue these two networks, Dish is denying their subscribers E!, the ultimate network for entertainment fans with marquee January events from exclusive coverage of Red Carpet season to the premiere of the new season of the Kardashian show "Kourtney & Kim Take NY," and Style, the home of transformations, from fashion, to beauty to home, featuring all-new seasons of "Kimora" and "Jerseylicious." Fans are encouraged to visit fansfightback.com or call 877-5-Fans-Fight to make their voice heard.
In the FAQ section of the site, they had this to say:
Q:

How long have you been in contract negotiations with Dish? How are the talks going; are you optimistic that a deal will get done?

A:

We began negotiations this summer. We are doing everything we can to reach an agreement.

If Dish is trying to help not increase bills, then this is fine with me. I mean we lived without FX, NatGeo, and some FSNs for a while.

I could care less as long as G4 is not involved - now if we lose G4 I will be pissed since I watch that channel daily. The Soup is the only show I have ever watched on E! and it is easily viewable online.

agree, but i only watch 4 shows on those three networks, The Soup on E!, The Dish on Style, and off course Attack of The Show and Web Soup on G4.

just because you dislike or dont like the channel doesnt mean you should down play it. Im sure others see the pattern here and it makes it hard to justify signing a contract when your not really sure if you will have the OPTION to view the channels currently offered today, tomorrow. I couldnt careless about E! however between Disney HD channels, this, FX, etc it get tiresome.

This will probably play out like FX/NatGeo. E! will feel the pain of lower ratings in about a month (if not sooner) and everyone will magically come to an agreement. I am looking forward to hopefully getting HDNet Movies again as a substitute.

Yea, the Style channel just happened to be on at my house (Don't ask me why anyone in my house would watch this garbage) and I saw the commercial that they put together trying to scare people and telling them to cancel Dish.

All I can say based on my experence, there is a very good chance this channel will go away on 1/1/11 and will remain off for a very long time. Heres why...

#1 Its in the Top250 package, and I would estimate that about 12% actually subscribe to this package unlike AT120 which is about 50%

#2 I have been selling new accounts for 12 years, I can't honestly remember that last time anyone insisted that they get the Style channel

#3 I can't imagine anyone calling to complain that this channel is missing, I doubt many people will realize its missing if its removed.

End result? Dish looses this channel for a month or so, Style realizes they are loosing all the revenue and Charlie gets his way again.

They can watch the Fashion channel instead.
