DISH Network Reports Fourth Quarter and Year End 2010 Financial Results

I don't do Auto pay, I 'd rather pay $10 per month then let D* or E* take out their own money.

HD platinum $20
Free Starz, Cinemax $13
DVR and 4 VIP 612 $36
Protection Plan $6
$142.99

Directv
Choice Extra $65.99
HD/HD Extra $14.99
DVR/4 rooms HR's $25
Starz/Encore,Cinemax $24

$135.97

Directv

DVR/4 Rooms $25
Starz Encore,Cinemax $24
Protection plan $5.99
$140.97

Now Add $54.99 for Verizon 3 MBPS DSL, and $34.99 for Vonage Unlimited Phone to the Satellite Providers.

Total!
For Dish $232.97
For Directv $225.95-$230.95

!
Hey Tampa, where in this does Dish come out on top.

You Claim I didn't include Choice Ultimate, When Clearly I did.
I also Included you Free Starz pack that Charlie giving its valued customers.

So what Auto pay, go ahead deduct $10, Deduct $10 from D* since they offer the same deal as well.

Again Record Profit, and what do you have to show for it!

4 States are affected by the MSG Dispute.

Dish Serves 1 Team in the NY DMA, the METS and 90% they are in SD.

So that shows they aren't spending any money in one of the Largest DMAs in the lower 48.

Cable companies are in the business of selling bandwidth and bundles. That is it. What they have to offer as far as programming is not any better, and in many cases worse, than what satellite offers. This is also why they try their best to restrict bandwidth

Satellite is the the business of offering programming. That is it. This is why they usually have more programming options, particularly in HD, than cable
I agree with you, But to D* defence, I'm not going to listen to someone convince me that E* is such a cheap option , when its NOT AT ALL!!

2 years ago, yes

When an addtional 722 was $12 with the DVR atvantage pack.
Not $17 and a $6 DVR fee with other price increases across the board several times in the past 2 years.

Hey I missed this topic:(

How many more subs will E need to lose before their stock price is effected? maybe get under 14 million? at a charlie admitted cost of about a grand per new sub the churn will get costly at some point...

At what point will the entire operation become unprofitable?

The fixed cost of satellites, uplinks etc are the same with one customer or 100 billion.

Most companies want to grow. E is a exception.

The beancouter suits theory was bad subs who wanted freebies would eventually churn away and the company would start gaining subs again.

wonder how long that will take?

and E lost nearly all its telco partners that was dumb.

the best part of comcst for me is the bundling discount.

when you can get internet tv and phone bundle for roughly about the cost of TV from E its a no brainer to churn away.

so far comcast has been great.

charlie its was a great ride, but it ended for me when your current management got greedy........

Lets NOT FORGET that chuck chat where charlie appeared impaired, saying things like were expensive keep sending us your pay checks and joking or talking of drugs. someone in production wisely decide to pull the plug on the show...... only error was letting it go on so long

Its possible he may be a figure head and disconnected from day to day operations, or my old theory he is boosting profits for a sell out.

very few companies are happy to be shrinking while others are growing...

As long as Dish Network makes a profit I believe that is the bottom line of the way a business works.:D

My daughter-in-laws parents had Comcast their"special deal" expired, today Dish Network is scheduled to come out to their house for a "new customer" install.;)

no company can shrink indefintely and remain profitable, at some pointn the losses begin

I didnt read all of Haller's rant but I got money it includes 3 things
-the word "beancounter"
-him saying he is with Comcast now
-why he left Dish

bonus point if he mentions Tivo too

HAHA I was right

The beancouter suits theory was bad subs who wanted freebies would eventually churn away and the company would start gaining subs again.
well there is the beancounter word

so far comcast has been great.
there is the comcast one

charlie its was a great ride, but it ended for me when your current management got greedy........
and the reason why he left

DAMMIT Haller...where is the "I love my Tivo" in your post? I lost bonus points :(

laugh all you want but it appears i have made the change many others are too.

E should ask themselves how long they can bleed subs before it hits their stock price.

and yes i am very happy with tivo and was thinking of getting a second one for my roomate, but that has gone south in a big way.....

if i can open up enough in the pub i might post my roomate problem....

its not good....

Well, I can only speak for myself. But if you are so darned happy with your choice, how come I got to read your opinions about a service from a company you don't do business with?

Must not be enough good TV on that Comcast rig to keep you happy, huh? :)

no its on topic i post as a former E customer, and likely echo the thoughts of those who churned. at some point charlie will be forced to address contiuning sub loss.

he is doing something wrong as D grows nicely E shrinks........

I have actuallyu been pretty quiet on this subject, do you want me to post more on it? Me thinks some here own E stock and our concerned my posts will cause its value to sink:)

While the real issue is E management screw up..........

I am but one poster.........

laugh all you want but it appears i have made the change many others are too.

but those people dont come here and post the same thing over and over and over and over and over again

I left Dish for Directv a year ago. You dont see me posting the reason I switched in pretty much every post

if i can open up enough in the pub i might post my roomate problem....
Look in the mirror...you might find the answer

You and I don't agree on pretty much anything, but when it comes to bobs rants, I think we have finally found common ground...for now anyway...
