Long-run HDMI is now quite affordable.
DLNA is becoming an option with modern televisions as is wireless networking.
It's not affordable enough for the average customer. HD for TV2 would be my top priority. As for Dish and Sports, they have put themselves in the position they wish to be in. Sports are expensive and giving customers everything Direct has would just make the 2 companies the same. People need options and Dish is the cheaper option with less focus on sports. I actually get all the sports I possibly need with Dish. I never miss anything.
Exactly. I currently have a 222k and am going to replace it with 2 211k's. This should give me HD on 2 TV's instead of the usual one HD and one SD and I can add an external HD to each of them. All this will cost me is $119 x 2. The receiver fees for the 2 211k's should be the same as for the 222k. I'm going to do this because I seriously doubt a dual HD tuner receiver will be available anytime soon. I'm not missing anything, am I?
They are already paying for the RSNs. It wouldn't cost them any more to put them on in HD 24x7. They just need the bandwidth. What I'm wanting to emphasize is that this future bandwidth needs to be allocated for the RSNs that they are already paying for.
The 2 external HDs will cost you an additional one time $80, $40 for each. 211s still carry a HD enabling fee because it makes them a DVR. No extra monthly charges though.
I was planning on buying the 211k's, not leasing them. The Dish store sells them for $119. I already have EHD enabled for my 622 so it's my understanding I can add external HD's to other receivers without additional charge. Currently, my bill shows a $14 charge for the 222k. I think the two 211k's will incur a $7 charge each. Am I correct?
The ability to record multiple programing at the same time on a duo dvr. You can only record what your watching from Dish. I think a 722 as a primary and the 211 as a secondary might work better. I have my 211 next to my computer with hdmi to the tv and coax from my 722 to the antenna input. That way I can watch programming I've recorded on my 722 here in the computer room or true hd from my 211. My wife can watch what she wants in the living room and I can watch other programs I've dvr'd here.
That would be true only if your 222 is not currently your primary receiver; those are free. So replacing a 222 with quantity two 211s will cost you an additional $7/mo. You will also have to pay the one time fee of $40 per account (not per receiver) for DVR conversion of your 211s.

1: BRING BACK SNY (preferably in HD 24/7) (MSG I don't care about, but I know a few do.... If I were D* I would be SLAMMING E* in the New York markets with this to make up for those CGI TVs popping out of the wood floor commercials)

OH, and a software upgrade so we could daisy chain EHDs together to create our own little libraries. You want to handcuff us to you? Allowing us to build 10TB of stored content would make sure we NEVER leave.
Thanks, that's what I thought. My primary receiver is a 622 and I have an external HD for it already so there's no need to incur the $40 fee again. Therefore, I can retire the 222k and go and get the two 211k's and attach external HD's to them and the monthly cost for the two 211k's would be the same as for the 222k. One question though, I assume the skip back function will work on a 211k with an external HD, right?

I hate to look like a "Give me it and give me it NOW", but we RV'rs would really like some anouncement about national network feeds. This wasn't a big issue as long as ADD was providing HD, but now it really sucks having to watch SD on our multi-thousand dollar HD setups.
If this issue isn't resolved soon, tell Charlie he will have to answer to my wife. Believe me, he doesn't want that!
Have a safe trip and bring us a back lot of info.
