VIP722 SW Release L685

I have two DVR722, one has got the update of L6.76 and the other has not. So how do i get the other one to update. I have tried to unplug it for a little bit and then plug it back in, and nothing. I have tried to change the update time to force update when i was setting in front of it, it would go though its thing and reboot and still not update......

You don't. They send it to your particular "serial number" when they choose to.

I also noticed that on L676 on things that used to require a phone line to use (like the customer support application) it now uses your broadband connection for everything. Looks like a phone line is obsolete, unless you want to see Caller-ID on your TV. And the On Demand bug where it would reboot your receiver if you selected TV Shows>By Network is gone too!

Just got L685 for my 722k this morning.
So far the scrolling in the menu is great. Of course I am not calling it fixed until it goes for over a week or more. :)
It did not erase all my DVR shows and hopefully will not try to record every episode of my timers.
So far I am a fan.
Hope it lasts.

I did a reset after a few tries to download the guide via point dish. That gave me all my guide data back and it also "brought back" all my lost recordings. The dvr must have forgotten it had the recordings. Oh well I am just glad it appears to be working (for now...)

You must live a clean life!

Found a new item showing up after getting L685 ... was switching between HBO and EPIX (300 ~ 295) .... on the first attempt to tune 295 ... i get an initial screen showing the channel & its respective information ... and along the bottom in the same style ... is the message "Instantly watch 3,000 Epix movies on dishonline.com"

and there seems to be no way to turn this off... iee, I would have expected it be part of the Tv Enhancements.. but that's disabled and this still shows up.

And whats worse, is this is now the 3rd week that any time I try to start a DVR event using DishOnline .. it immediately starts that item on TV1.

Dish ... what a mess. :(

L685 here and I get "Partial Signal Loss" repeatedly and apparently at random. 8 times while I was on the phone with retention... but the 211 never lost signal at all.

Already another thread on this: Annoying Epix message.

yeah.. found that after... :) but good still to mention in the thread with more L685 faults.. lol.. .like dish would ever fix things and not break others? :)

Add to the "what's wrong in L685" ... dish updated passwords to get into sling adapters via "admin" account .. don't know if its fully randomized ... but most definately when L685 was installed the default ADMIN password for use to attach to the sling adapter changed.

it went from being 'admin' on mine (ie. user: admin pass: admin ... ala Linksys Defaults) ... to being some 14 character hex string!! Thankfully another user pointed out that its shown in clear text in the HTML source for web pages at DRA and DishOnline when you access pages there for your DVR.

My older 722 is on L676 for a few days. The first day all search history entries were gone.
The newer 722 still has L674--guess I should get these before they go zap. Already replaced them.
Not as bad as losing timers but I use this to scan for another 30 or so programs on each.

Yep my search history went bye bye on my 722k. Wasn't major mad but not happy about it either.
