did anyone catch this last night? Joe Buck said "now NFL Sunday Ticket is available at no extra charge."

?Joe Buck gives away Sunday Ticket for free?‏ - YouTube
I knew this was originally the deal for new customers only, but this doesn't say that, no fine print, it doesn't even gives us a phone number to call. it just says no extra charge.

if this is a mistake, D* CSR's are gonna have fun with this :D Might be worth giving them a ring, even if they don't give it to you for free

YES I DID .....

Wonder what happens when you call and ask about it ....

Oh, that was a mistake, were sorry, it was for New Subs only.

So, has any existing customers had any luck getting this deal? The discounts actually go far deeper than just the free Sunday Ticket. Several other items, along with the service packages are all discounted by quite a bit on this promo. I googled "free nfl sunday ticket", went to the DTV link, and it showed them. But, of course, as soon as I made the mistake of logging in, they disappeared and went back to the normal prices... Even after logging out. I couldn't find the promo again until I deleted the DTV cookies from my computer. Went back to the same page, and there were the deals again. Check it out.

As you mentioned, I'm sure it's only for new customers. But, if you're a valuable enough account to them (I have had their highest package since 2001, and NFL Sunday Ticket every year since it came out), would they actually make me cancel my service order to get it? Even if that's the case, I figure going a few days without TV for $1000-$1500 in savings over the next couple of years is a pretty good deal if you ask me. Especially if you cancel before you leave town for some reason. Besides, there isn't anything good on TV this summer anyways. The question is, is there a stipulation on how long ago you cancelled in order to be classified as a "new" customer?

I'm very curious to hear anyone's experiences with trying this.

I have not called yet... I am thinking I am waiting untill the league gets the deal done hopefully next week. Not really going to call for it free just looking for the reduced rate many of us get when calling and being polite :)

My buddy called they offered a discounted rate at like 290 and he asked about cancelling and they told him it would take 3 years to be a new customer.

Hmm... I looked on some other sites and most threads seem to say that it takes two years to become a "new" customer again. Either way, apparently that route won't work. BUT, what about if I cancel and resign up in my fiancee's name (who lives with me)?

Not sure how Direct works but I know other companies will do it that way

That MAY work, provided they don't catch the address being the same, then again, there really is no rule saying you cannot have more than one account at a residence.

Did they say what the Fullprice was ?

Full price was 350 from what they told him. He asked him to cancel and out it in his wife's name. They told him they could not because it was the the same residence. I told him to call back and tell them they r getting a divorce and he moved out. He is also out of contract but they wouldn't budge even upon signing a new one.

He just needs to cancel the account and then in a few days she should call up and sign up as a new customer using her name, her SS#, and preferably her cell phone, or at least a different phone number than he used on the account. How could they have any problem with this, especially if she never mentions his name?? What would happen if they had sold their house and a new person moved in? The new person couldn't sign up "because it was the same residence"??

350 is freaking steep! I got a letter telling me that I would automatically be charged like 66 bucks a month for 5 months unless I contacted them and they would remove this from my account. I know I will end up getting it but I really can't believe its that much. I will do all I can, call a ton of times to see if I can get the price down but I'm really not expecting them to do it. I have only been with D* for 1 year now. I got spoiled with the free Sunday ticket last year as a new customer.

This years price is $334.95. Last years price was $299.94....the $35 increase is nuts.

Seems like it goes up every year. It's just ridiculous that they treat 10+ year customers like 2nd class citizens and charge us out the wazoo. I called up and, as it turns out, I still have a year left in my current contract (as I was afraid of) because I added the Whole Home DVR service when they came out with it last year. I told her I plan on cancelling as soon as my contract is up and she gave me a few discounts that added up to $31.50 per month. It's far from the deals they are offering new customers, but not too shabby. Oh, and if you decide to call, be sure to sign up for auto-bill pay beforehand. That was the very first question she asked me.

Same old arguments, same old explanations and same old resolutions; every year without fail. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

You guys who have been with them a long time, don't they usually give the first couple weeks free to get people hooked? If I recall correctly they did this last year.

I want to say they did at least last year... I could have sworn I remember them having a free preview weekend or something like that. I've been paying for it since it came out though, so I can't say for certain.
