Where's the Sling Extender?

I can't remember. Was that one of Charlie's comments on a Charlie Chat that it would be available or an official Dish announcement?

If you are referring to a 722, unless I'm missing something doesn't TV2 only output only NTSC/coax and composite? If so, that ain't HD.
I was thinking the only way to get HD out of a 722 was with the sling adapter (not to be confused with the sling extender).
Charlie commented on it but it was always my understanding that it was a feature coming soon as of 2008. There's a thread here

That's another of the promises of something that was coming soon, that I was looking forward to, that doesn't appear to ever be coming. Basing your plans on what Dish is "about" to release is a joke. Although they are pretty good at holding firm on their promises of raising prices.
anyone heard any ideas when the sling extender will be out was supposed to be mid august and its almost september.waiting to get hd on tv2

On average, DIRECTV bills currently run about $16.86 higher per month than DISH Network bills. Come football season, I expect that DIRECTV customers will be paying an average of very nearly $100/month.

You know, I keep hearing that from Dish fanboys, but when I look at my current bill, and then run the numbers on what DirecTV would run me for the next two years, on an equivalent package to what I have now, including a $200 discount from AAA, my bill would be about half what it is now from Dish, and only go up about $16 the second year. My bill from Dish went up significantly the second year, especially since Dish rewrote the rules on billing about the same time. DirecTV is now offering a break for the second year as well as the first. BTW, I'd be getting Sunday Ticket free for this season. Sorry, my only loyalty is to who will give me the best deal, with a decent signal. In two years if the local cableco is the best deal I'll go back to them. Then again, it's hard knowing where I'll be living 2 years from now, and what options will be available.
It was promised, most recently during the "tailgating" Charlie Chat where they had BBQ and talked a lot of football. In fact, as Charlie had said the 222 (and "K" one presumes) would get functionality like the 211, and all they have to do is send the software to make it happen, Jim started talking over Charlie saying, "NO. No, that is not . . ." Charlie get talking and talking and Jim kept interrupting and trying to talk over Charlie, "No. Now, we haven't . . ." It was gut busting FUNNY.
I bought the 222/K SPECIFICALLY for the external HDD recording feature announced. Now, I know we will probably NEVER see that function EVER! I think the problem is Dish's decision to use the ubiquitous and CHEAP USB (2.0 back then) instead of eSATA, but EVERY other DVR maker starting from at least 2006 put eSATA on board for their external HDD solutions. USB 2.0 just doesn't have the bandwidth to provide a 2 tuner DVR experience like the internal HDD's. AND DISH STILL clings to USB. I Don't know if the XiP is USB 2.0 or 3.0. I would like to know which as 3.0 provides and experience like SATA.
Do you have some numbers to support that USB 2.0 isn't up to the job?
Do you have numbers to support that just any ol' eSATA setup is up to the job? (I'm sure the DIRECTV eSATA users would argue that eSATA, in and of itself, is no guarantee.)
You made an error in judgment trying to game the system and lost.
Which supports my earlier post. Don't EVER make your decisions on what Dish says it is going to release, you can only make your decisions on what is currently a reality.
This is not unique to DISH Network. Watch what happens when just about any new product from any company is released. Many of the first reactions will be complaints about what didn't make it into the finished product (Windows 7 was a relative non-event compared to what was promised) and more often than not, the stock price will drop.
I'll gladly keep my USB 2 (which has more than enough bandwidth for multiple streams) and have both internal and external HDDs functional, than take an eSATA port which will provide no additional functionality and LOSE the concurrent use of the internal HDD when attaching an external HDD.
And I certainly don't buy a product hoping for a feature it doesn't have, to be provided at some future date.
