Yippee !!!! :high5: :eureka:

They just announced on the local evening news that Cox Cable Company has lost the exclusive contract with the San Diego Padres Baseball Team. The new owner of the Padres will not renew with them. They announced the layoff all of the television broadcast team.

What that means is that the Padres games will no longer be blocked out on Dish or Direct, in the 2012 season. The news reporter said that it was rumored that Fox Sports will broadcast the games and that all home games would continue to be broadcast locally in San Diego. So hopefully all baseball games broadcast on Fox Sports will not be blacked out in San Diego any more.

It sure will be nice to get baseball on channels we are paying to have now that Cox Cable and the Padres lost the law suit by Fox, ATT-Uverse and Direct. :coffee

That is awesome news!

Yes, that is very good news, except for those that are now OUT OF WORK ...

Oh also if you haven't figured, I do not like Cox Cable......they have more hidden fee's a BS taxes than the entire state of taxifornia. according to the United Consumers action network the have 10 or 12 bogus charges add to their billing statement listed as a taxes. that do not exist.

Will they be moving to FNS West, FSN PT, or their own RSN? If with West or PT, will LA area be able to see the Pads since they will be on LA RSNs?

No. There will probably be an alternate feed of one of the LA based RSNs with the Padres, and the non-baseball LA teams, for San Diego and Imperial counties. The Dodgers and Angels will NOT be seen in SD county and the Padres will NOT be seen in Orange or LA counties.

They do share some territory. Some inland counties in California, southern Nevada and southern Arizona. What might happen there is a question.

That sounds about right. Although we pay for and receive FSW and Prime Ticket all baseball games are blocked out here in San Diego county which really sucks when you pay to receive, them. Of course all of the baseball games are blocked here in San Diego county unless you buy the MLB package....that sucks too.

JMHO :coffee

San Diego newspaper is reporting that there will indeed be a "Fox Sports-San Diego" which will be, more or less, an "alt feed" of the LA based channels. DirecTV will probably treat this the way it does things like the North Carolina and Tennessee alternates of the Atlanta based channels, giving viewers the standard LA feeds, with appropriate blackouts, and spooling up an alt channel for the Padres games (and any other SD only material that it might gather). Cable would have a seemless single channel, unaware that the headend was substituting programming where appropriate.
