Please help!!! I recently lost a majority of my HD channels, so I checked my satellite signals and saw that I cannot receive signals for all transponders in satellites 103 and 119. I have a 5 LNB slimline with I believe a built in multiswitch satellite dish (but really only has 3 LNBs.) Went on the roof today to see if the dish was loose, but it seems pretty secure. I dont know if one of the LNBs pick up those two satellites and they are bad, or if the built in multiswitch is bad? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have more than one recvr ?
If so, does the other one work ?

What model recvrs are you using and what type dish ?
you can get this info from the Menu's.

Check for loose (or corroded) connections

Hey jimbo!

I do have two other receivers in my house but they are both non hd, which are coming fro satellites 101. My hd dvr is a HR22/200. The type of dish is a 5 lnb slimline multiswitch. I checked the connections outside, they don't seem to be corroded. I do however have a connection hub at the base of my house where all 4 cables from the satellite dish connect to, but those connections seem to be ok. I don't understand why it is only those two satellites that do not have signal, while the other satellites are fine (99, 101 & 110)

mmittner, can you post the signal levels for all of the satellites from your HR22?

What kind of signal do you have on the 101 and the 99 and 103.

Did your BBC's go bad by chance.

This is a NON SWM set up, correct ?

Yes Jimbo, non swm. He said there are four lines from the dish.

Signal Meters:

101 - Tuner 1: 95% / Tuner 2: 96%
110 - Tuner 1: 91% / Tuner 2: 93%
119 - Tuner 1: Not Acquired / Tuner 2: Not Acquired
99(c) - Tuner 1: 90% / Tuner 2: 89%
99(s) - Tuner 1: 51% / Tuner 2: 51%
103(s) - Tuner 1: Not Acquired / Tuner 2: Not Acquired
103(ca) - Tuner 1: Not Acquired / Tuner 2: Not Acquired
103(cb) - Tuner 1: 90% / Tuner 2: Not Acquired

I noticed that I have signal on the 103(cb) for all transponders in tune 1, but every other transpoder in tuner 2... Could this give a better clue?

We really would like to see the whole list of signals on the 99 and 103 instead of just the overall.
It's on the next screen.
For example, my 99c looks like this:

1-8 95, 95, 90, 92, 95, 93, 88, 91
9-16 92, 92, 89, 91, 95, 93, na, na
the rest are na

103c (note, there is a 103ca and a cb)

1-8 na
9-16 88, 95, 90, 92, 88, 92, 89, 93
17-24 90, 94, 91, 92, 92, 94, 93, 95
25-32 na

101 has 32 transponders all up and working so there should be no na's
Mine are from 93 to 100

I usually don't check tuner 2 unless I'm having issues, but since you mentioned it, they are about the same as tuner 1

Ok, no problem....

Just checked the 103(s) again... now they are all "0" and "N/A".

Your numbers on the main sat 101 is ok, could be better, the numbers on the 99 and 103 are enough that you should get a signal, they are not real good, but good enough to get a picture.

Think you need an alignment.

Try running a test in the menus and see what it says.

Set up/System setup/ Info and Test/ Run System Test

Ok guys, so I ran a system test and it indicated that I may need a pointing adjustment. But before I ask how to go about readjusting, I would like to mention that after I posted my signal meters last night, I took one of the BBCs off and plunged it back in, reset the receiver and was able to get some of the channels on the 103 (Clevelnad local DMAs, TBS) but then I changed the channel and lost those stations on the 103???

Your local channels should be on 103s t18. If the signal levels get low enough, the station won't come in. If you have someone to help you, try this: While they monitor the signal strength screen, you move the dish slightly in each direction and see how it affects the levels. Move the dish just a little, and wait for the numbers to change on the screen, it takes 15 seconds or so for the change to occur. That should give you some idea if it's the alignment or an equipment issue. Good luck, and don't give up (yet)!

As 103 and 119 are combined in the HD stack plan, I would suspect a switching issue.

The secret to testing from the SD receivers is to choose a channel that comes from 119W. If you can tune channels 807, 853, 855, 870 or 876 (Sonic Tap channels in the Choice package) with your SD receivers, the problem is not widespread and you might be able to switch cables around at the grounding block (typically easier than changing them at the LNB).

If the problem were an issue with the BBCs, it would impact 99W as well.
